Late for work...

seems to be a firebug in our town right now, 3 vacant houses lit up in the last four days.
unfortunately we have a couple of them right across the street from us.
some guy bought them last month, wants to put in some condo's.
at about 4:30 in the morn i wake up to some big diesel engines running outside our house, and a bunch of banging. thought they were going to start demo'ing the houses. being in the construction biz and knowing the rules, i went outside to remind them the noise bylaw does'nt kick off for almost 3 more hrs.
imagine my surprise....(not really...)

had a condo fire about 4 blocks from us a few yrs ago, dropped ash and embers all over our house and vehicles leaving a bunch of little black burn marks everywhere.
my first instinct was to get my crew out of there (new paint) but luckily the wind was blowing away from us, but not so lucky for my neighbor who lives beside it, his house got SMOKED big time...
could'nt have moved the truck anyways, they ran a line past my driveway to the hydrant at the end of the street

stellar work by our fire department, they had it under control and out in about 20 mins before anything else lit up. they also rolled their line and moved a truck so i could get out for work, ended up being only half a hr late for work

Same guy? Clearing the land on insurance dollars so he can build his condos?

I had the same thought..... wouldn't surprise me if the guy's insurance adjusters have similar thoughts.

Re: Late for work...

There was a little house on a quarter section that the bank wanted our FD to burn down, but the chief said there were asbestos issues and wouldn't do it.

Surprisingly, it caught fire on snowy spring morning

Probably eco warriors. They do a good bit of arson.

One would just feel helpless if you wanted to move your trucks away from the cinders fallen and you cannot due to a fire hose in the way... Speaking of odd fires and insurance being needed.. most every sawmill from where I lived in Oregon always burned to the ground after they shut down for good.

Happens all the time. There are names for it. I don't know any that are politically correct, but one refers to a type of "lightning" named after an ethnic group. Restaurants manage to burn when business dies out.

Re: Late for work...

It's a friction fire. Somebody left the insurance policy right next to the mortgage papers in the file cabinet. A little rubbing, and POOF!

Re: Late for work...

well since i posted this, two more empty houses went up. one the next night after ours, and another last night...this is ridiculous.
some poor innocent person is bound to end up with some damage from this.
also found out the owner across the street is a "offshore" buyer, from a country with not much respect for rules.
case in point, fire marshall ordered it torn down right away as it is now an unsafe hazard, a week on and just the grass and weeds are getting taller....and it stinks, especially today, was just over 90 and you can smell it. don't know how my neighbor next to it is putting up with it

Re: Late for work...

I hope they aren't delinquent about the matter. Just let it ride it's way into court action and/or seizure. I really hope this fire freak gets caught and strung up soon. Must be pretty good at it.
