66 biscayne, my all time fav. car. torq thrusts match the era of the car better i think. even better imho would be widened steelies with dog dish caps. either way, sweet ride

Re: 1966 Biscayne 427

Hey Guys. Thanks for the compliments!!! The rear has 275 60 15 on 8 inch wheels and the fronts are 225 60 15 on 7 inch wheels. Yeah I've been thinking about getting some wide steelies just to change the look up once in a while and I agree they look awsome as well. I hung on to a nice set of dog dish caps for the day that I might go with steelies.

Re: 1966 Biscayne 427

Did you convert the brakes to disc? What kit did you use? I been looking at a bunch of different kits for my 67 but I haven't decided since there are so many different brands and I'm not sure which ones are quality and hold up.

Well I did not go with a big name brand and for the life of me I can not remember what the brand name was. I think I spent about 1500 on front and rear disc brakes with all of the lines, mater and booster. I had a lot of problems and ended up having to change out the master cylinder and the booster because they were defective right out of the box. It seemed like I spent weeks trying to get it bled and when I thought i had it bled the pedal did not feel right at all (very hard). If I was going to do it again I would spend a little more money and and buy little better quality kit like SSBC or something.

Re: 1966 Biscayne 427

Awesome car!!!
My first car was a 67 Bel Air 4 door, owned it from 1975-1997. I installed disc brakes on it, around 1985. It was easy, any late 1968-1970 blody style w/ factory discs, will bolt up. 1967-mid 1968 used the 4 piston calipers, they are unusual and not as desireable (to me, at least).

Re: 1966 Biscayne 427

I just found this sub-forum! I LOVE the 65-66 Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne/Caprice!!!!!!! I owned a 65 Bel Air 2 door sedan for several years. Unfortunately, it never got out of project car stage. It was a one owner car with a 283/powerglide and under dash A/C. The son of the original owner (thought/or actually was) a head gasket was blown, and pulled the heads, intake and cut the A/C lines..... That was in the 80's and never moved under it's own power again. I actually almost had it driveable, with a motor, trans swap and put a 12 bolt rear in it. All I had to do is wire it up.....and I swapped it for another car. I even had a 69 front disk brake set up. I'd like to get another one some day. David
