Re: Vintage Licence Plate Frame ‘s

These were on mine when the truck was new. Picture isn't very good, but it's the best I can do. I tossed them when I got the license plates since I refuse to drive a billboard. I wish I had them now though. Says "Yorba Linda" at the top and "Barton's" at the bottom. The paper plate says "Where the price is less and the service is best".

Re: Vintage Licence Plate Frame ‘s

I used to collect these, but let most go. I'll see what I can find and add pictures. When the plastic was coming in and chrome metal going out in the '80s I bought up a bunch still in stock. I had "I'd Rather Be Sailing" on my '71 Suburban I remember.

When I got to CA in the '70s, that is what I noticed. Back East dealers were still sticking, often riveting or screwing, their names on the paint of peoples cars. I thought that was really lousy to do. But in CA they were smarter, they did license plate frames and I really liked that. It seemed everyone had them on their cars. You could tell what part of the big state people were from (in most cases) or at least where the car started out from. Keeping the same plates I thought was a better idea as well.

A friend of mine gave me a pair of these frames when he moved to California and worked at DE ANZA Chevrolet back in 1964. They have been on the same car ever since, my 1936 Ford Coupe.

My great grandfather was a line mechanic at DeAnza Chevrolet way back in the day. What’s left of it now is an Aamco transmission shop I’m only about 3 miles away from it. I doubt you will ever sell those but if you do I’d like to be first in line

Thanks for the info on De Anza Scott.

It would be hard to part with them now, but I will keep that in mind.

Re: Vintage Licence Plate Frame ‘s

Here’s one I recently obtained. It’s from the dealer that sold my blazer new in March 1972. Sadly, the frame is not period correct but the plate at least looks as if it could be. I’m still chasing a period correct frame so please keep me in mind if anyone sees an example.

I've been looking for Spedding Chevrolet frames for years. I've never saw one. Not even a picture of one. They must be in the realm of "Hens Teeth". LOL

Like you ,,I would like to have one from the town in southern California that my truck grew up from before I got it .. I think back at all the license plate frames I couldnt wait to get home and take them off and trash can them when buying a car from the car lot ,,

Years ago my daily driver was a 60 Impala that was bought new at De Anza in Riverside. Sorry for the lousy pic but again it was taken long before computers and iPhone's.
