Re: 51 chev build

I put this truck on an 88 S10 4x4 frame. Like everyone else on here it took many years to get the money together. Here's a list of what is in it. Dakota digital gauges, 350hp 350, 700R4 w/shift kit, electric shift transfer case, edelbrock 600 carb, unilite dist, mallory hyfire, front runner pulley system, all hardware is either stainless or chrome. I replaced the suspension bushing with energy suspension bushings, it has pro comp shocks. The truck also has A/C, tilt, cruise, power windows, locks and steering, 6 way power, heated and memory seats.

Way cool truck.. really like the color!. If you don't mind, I have a couple of questions. I'm getting my parts togeter and would like to know which donor parts you've been able to use for your truck? What/where did you get your 6 way seats? This kind os information sure would sure would make for a helpful matrix to post online...hua? Thanks in advance...

Re: 51 chev build

I got the seats out of a 2006 trailblazer. I tried the full size truck seats but the taper of those seats vs. the taper of the cab didn't fit well.

Thanks all. You're right, The interior was done by Premier in Rogers. Handlebars and Hotrods out of Becker did the paint. 3 coats base 5 coats clear.

Here's a couple more pictures of the interior that was just finished last week. They did the center console as well as behind the seats.

Re: 51 chev build

Well, I had to buy a used original hood today. Couldn't get that aftermarket hood to fit up. I wouldn't buy any hoods from brother's truck for the 47-53 chevy. Their supplier put metric threaded holes for the hinges instead of standard and they roll the back of the hood to the cowl so you get a 1/2 gap.

Good choice.. I'm going to put these seats in my matrix. Any other donor information would be great to have! Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: 51 chev build

I don't have to many donors on this. Like I said before the seat are from a trailblazer. The frame is an 88 S10 ext. cab short box 4 x 4. The transfer case is from a 94 S10 blazer and is electric shift. The engine is a 93 350 vortec rebuilt to 350hp. The transmission is a 700R4 with a shift kit. The only other items are the steering column and the brake booster which are also from the 88 S10. The front diff doesn't engage yet because they used a vacuum engagement in those days. I tried to use the posi lock system but didn't like the cable look inside the cab so i'm looking for a electric actuator to lock the front diff in.

Re: 51 chev build

I'm seeing a big advantage on using the S-10 frame.. everything you need from the frame down is easier to find than using these AD frames. Thanks again.. Appreciate the quick responses.

Re: 51 chev build

2 wheel.. I'll be running a 350 bored 30 over with TH350 (would like to have a 700R4). '87 Firebird rearend. Installed the Heidts Mustang front end so I'll be running 4 wheel disc brakes.

A little history on my truck: It's been in the family for 3 generations and bought new by my grandfather. When got the truck I left the engine and drive line at the farm.. didn't even entertain using it. I wanna to bring this beast into the 21st century. All the metal work to date has been from Sachse Rod Shop here in town. New Floors, inner/outer cab corners, firewall and mounts. I'm working on smoothing the hood now. I'll try to get some pics up to show you. Not near as nice as your ride..but I've still got a long way to go.

Re: 51 chev build

Dave,
Did you make it to the Princeton show? I was there and walked through the show before and after going to the swap meet and I didn't see your truck. I left shortly after noon.

I did score some new floor pans so I was happy but I would have loved to see your truck. Maybe I'll catch it at the next one.
