It's a pretty nice configuration if you want to do, like, truck stuff.

I love me a 2 tone long bed 4x4! My favorite color combo too. I want that in a highlander

Re: Very nice looking '72 4x4 on Ebay

I'd love to find a factory k10 or 20 highlander too Bladeboy - but I don't believe they exist. Like srvivor71, I prefer my 4x4s as lwb. And I'm still looking for my holy grail truck... Having said that - when trucks approach this level of $$$, I think it's worthwhile to point out potential concerns just in case a newb is looking at buying. Not for the purpose of nitpicking, rather for the purpose of helping folks know what to consider so they can buy informed.

My 2c:
- Beautiful truck, but being a fan of correctness when someone is selling a Super above the $20k mark... here's what jumps out at me and might give a potential buyer a list of things to ask the seller

- SPID says YE9 Cheyenne Super, but it is missing the glovebox door aluminum tray under the woodgrain, missing the correct Super woodgrain dash, missing the 72 Super aluminum tailgate cover, has the incorrect seat cover installed (but seller points this out, so he gets a pass), and, a few additional things that REALLY get my attention (I would want to get clarified before I bought):
- it LOOKS like the SPID is missing the clear cover that should be there on a 72. But the SPID clearly calls out a YE9 - and is missing the above noted aluminum tray. Bottom line, make sure the SPID matches the frame and VIN tag.
- take a close look at the interior of the driver door. My imagination or is that a huge dent that's been painted over? If so, to me, that is an indication of overall workmanship, sorry, even if the outside looks nice. Seems very out of place on this otherwise very nicely done truck.
- also note the opening line of the ad description, the seller lists the previous douchebag buyer that bailed on him BY NAME and GIVES HIS LOCATION. No matter how much of a douchebag the previous bailing buyer was, you just don't do that - sorry. Surprised ebay hasn't pulled the plug on his ad - they could be in hot water leaving it up there like that. All silly, but true.

Anyway - all these things (to me) are reasons to do your homework well when paying this much $$ for a very nice looking truck. The stakes are high when it's a somewhat rare Cheyenne Super 4x4 and it's good to go into your "negotiation" with some ammunition and it's good to be able to confirm what you're buying with confidence - or at least buy it informed if it's not what it appears to be. My guess is it's all legit, but these are the things I'd check before I bought my dream truck.

EDIT: I didn't mention the big block - seller openly states it's a swap, so good on him. BUT, openly or not, it does/can affect price point on a truck that costs this much. It's not numbers matching and that's ok(!) but it's certainly a consideration in value.

Yes sir this is the truth! I'm different than the majority, I don't particularly care for short bed trucks in any configuration.

Re: Very nice looking '72 4x4 on Ebay

I only like lwb fleet 4x4s to me a short step should be lowered and a fleet should be kept factory, but that's just me. To me a 4x4 long bed is to do work truck stuff.
Deadhead: how CA you tell the door is not a 72? I am slightly new to these trucks and have no clue.
I thought there was one just like this that was a members truck
I have a pic!

isn't this a true lwb 4x4 highlander?

Re: Very nice looking '72 4x4 on Ebay

These trucks are worth what ever someone is willing to pay for one. If you add up all of the time and effort put into any resto/mod project it climbs up there really quick. I have spent four years driving all over the US to find good original sheet metal, new axles, engine, custom fuel injection...ect. I have been in my garage just about every free minute I have had working to keep my project on track. I just had my truck painted and the bill was in the five figure range. So if you add all that up (to me) it is in about the same price range. I don't care if anyone thinks that is too much (money, time or effort) this is what "Hot Rodding" is all about...your version of a truck, car or motorcycle. Some people have to have original and some people just don't give a crap, but either way if you like what you see and have checked it out pay the money or spend the time in the garage and build it yourself for less (try to).

That is one of specialK's trucks if I recall correctly. I think he said it was a true highlander.

Edit: Here is from another thread:

Medium Blue & White and along with the Highlander/Custom Camper goodies: 4spd...tach...am/fm...aux tank...tool & stowage compartment...wood floor...No-Spin...tow hooks...manual throttle...aux battery...and accessories like vent shades...bumper guards...engine heater
I never would have sold that truck if I didn't have to. Same goes for my Cheyenne Super Custom Camper K/20 with many good options. To me,highly optioned K/20s have always been the top of the food chain along with highly optioned short bed big blocks. Higher in my case.

Well that's great to know that my dream truck is the most rare! guess I will have to make one. I like all the options specialk did/had on his truck too, I would use every one of them.

If I had 20k I would drive out there and buy that truck right now! I might need to sell my silverado to afford the gas but I could manage

I have a truck that looks a lot like that one, but not as nice. Haha what would be the best way to lift it a couple inches? Put a lift kit on it or how much bigger could I make the wheels and tires?
