1980 K10 Keep air pump or delete

Hello
I have a 1980 K10 350 4spd Ac truck. All my others are pre air pump trucks. I need to replace the carb. Wondering if I should eliminate the Air pump and all that goes with it. There's vacuum lines going every where. Thanks for your thoughts

Do you have to pass a visual inspection come smog test time.

What carb are you going to use?

Nope don't have to pass any emission tests. Thinking of just a quadrajet with electric choke.

Not a lot to be gained ripping stuff out. Looks better maybe but might cost you 10 hp at 5 grand.

How exactly is he going to be losing horsepower by ripping the air injection off??? injection does nothing for performance. And if anything, it’s one less accessory that you’re driving, which could gain power.

Delete. You won't unlock 50 hidden HP but at this age, the air pump could fail at any time. Might as well pull everything during the carb swap. Check the threads on the plug sizes needed for the manifold holes.

Thanks I know it won't change HP much one way or the other. I was more concerned with having to chase leaks in all the vacuum lines and plastic T connectors it has a lot. I didn't want to replace all of those.

Save the parts.....take a look at what a.i.r. pumps go for now, assuming you can find them, that is.
