Re: New Steelies, New Look

i like your plan hoodlum. i would prefer a return to stock front rather than a lowered rear to level this thing. white steelies are awesome and a variety of caps is something you'll enjoy. they can get expensive!!

Re: New Steelies, New Look

Lil hoodlum, I always liked this truck minus the wheels. Looks great. If you wanted to lower the rear I think no more than a 2" block would be needed.

Is it stock suspension now? Nice truck.

Btw Im in N TX at tech school, any car shows in whitchita falls this summer?

Hey John, good to hear from you. I'm glad to know you survived basic training. I'm sure you are glad that part is over with. My dad was in the Air Force and he did his basic training in San Antonio as well. He learned to eat his food in 15 minutes or less. If you didn't finish quick enough you would go hungry. LOL.

Right now my truck has disk brakes up front with stock height aftermarket spindels. I put in 2" drop springs up front. Rear is stock height.

The only thing I could find out about car shows for Witchita Falls this is summer is: http://hotrodhappenings.com/NewTexas...mmerofFun.html

There is also a "Hotter than He!!" bike/run event in August I believe. Not sure if there would be any kind of car event stuff.

I like the steelies. I have white steelies on my truck too. I like the stance on your truck. As far as lowering it, I think that looks good the way it is. Everyone has their own taste. I always like that wicked raked look. Gives it that hot rod/muscle feel.

I like rake, but bring it in proportion.
Also, love the wheels/paint combo

Grande Rojo do the bullet center caps just push on from outside the wheel. Is it a nice tight fit, in other words, does it seem likely they might fall off easily?

That is the look that I would really love to have. I think it looks great. Thanks for the picture.

It's a push through and fits tight. Fits the 6 lug Wheelvintiques perfect. Got the wheels and cap from summit racing and the lug nuts from lugnutkings

Thanks for the info. Your wheel looks great.

I don't think the push through will work for me. There is like zero clearence for the rear wheels because of the axel flange.

Re: New Steelies, New Look

The ones from LugNutKing are for 3.75" outer diameter. I believe these are "push on". I measured mine before powder coating and that is the correct outer diameter.

Thanks for the info.

Re: New Steelies, New Look

Have you thought about a Spider setup like this? Off hand I don't remember who sells them but I bet a quick search will find em. Yes, I know this is a 5 lug setup. They may be available in 6 lug though.

Thanks Boog. My interweb searches did not come up with any 6 lug set ups for the spider caps. Thats what I was iniatially interested in but couldn't find any. So the next best choice was the bullet cones and bullet lug nuts.

Keith,

I like steel wheels on your truck. I think the caps would set them off too!

Re: New Steelies, New Look

I dig the steelies! I'm a fan of both, with and without caps. I have 15x8 steelies on the '67... currently with bowtie moon caps and rings. The second set is what I ran at first for a short time... 69-up caps which can be found on the parts board now.

Re: New Steelies, New Look

Keith, any info on whether or not those bullet center caps worked? I already have bullet lug nuts but the push through caps would be perfect for me. I have the same problem with the rear axle flange though.

Re: New Steelies, New Look

I am just starting my project with a 67 SWB fleet and I think the 15" steel rim is the way to go. I love the lowered trucks, and plan to go with a Porterbuilt coil over but I think I'm over the 22" look.
