Stepside tail lights

I'm fixing to buy a 67 stepside. Most 67-72 trucks I have seen have 2 lights on each side in the back (a red and a clear). This truck has just a red light. Did all 67-72 stepside trucks come with the 2 lights? How hard to convert back to the 2 lights instead of 1? Do the light holders weld on or bolt on? Thanks

Re: Stepside tail lights

They bolt on by a flat bracket. Both tail lamps and reverse lamps mount separately. What you have now are trailer lights. All parts are offered in reproduction or you can try to find used originals on the parts board.

Re: Stepside tail lights

The light setup on the blue truck is correct.

The square lights aren't original, the round tail lights and reverse lights must have been removed at some point and replaced with what look like square trailer lights to me. The brackets that hold the original round lights bolt on.

Factory brackets bolt to the bed. Readily available on the parts forum.

Pretty sure all states require reverse lights by now, mandated federally in 68.

Not quite true: MO, at least, doesn't care at all.

If there's yearly inspections, then probably. TN doesn't require inspections.

By the way, I like the chain covers. Did you buy those somewhere, or have them made?
