Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I installed the stainless cowl guards and now my hood doesn't close tight or line up the same. But my biggest concern is when I open the vents on the kick panels, there is very little air. I ran a vacuum inside the vents to be sure there isn't any garbage. I don't have ac and rely on the vents. Does anyone else have any problems after installing the guards?

Had no problem with mine, but my Blazer isn't a great example of body panel alignment either.

Got to be something else going on there. Screw head or
bolt sticking up or something. I was going to make one but I was going to paint it black but for the price it was easier to just buy a set. Believe I got them from Ecklers. Fit nice and don't stand out.

Re: Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I installed a set on my '71 not long ago. I cannot see how it would be possible for the guard to interfere with the air doors. The guards will raise the cowl in the front by an amount equal the thickness of the guards...which is not much. So, it seems you may have left out some shims on the cowl cover or not installed it correctly.

Just my $.02

Re: Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I installed the cowl grills from Old Air, and they are pretty decent. There is no problem with air flow. When I set the fan on high, it will blow leaves out the vents (one of these days I'll have to clean the evap and heater cores).

My cowl position was changed slightly. Enough that I might readjust the gap between the cowl and the hood.

Re: Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I used some vinyl screen material. Silicon to secure it. Works but small needles still get trapped in it.

Re: Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I cut out Gutter Screens to the shape needed to fit. If I remember right, I had to shape them around the wiper shafts. They work well for keeping leaves out, but I’m sure that pine needles would get through (I don’t have an issue with the pines because I don’t have any where I keep my Truck parked).

Re: Has anyone installed the cowl guards?

I've had mine in for 4/5 years now with no issues. I guess I took pic with wrong orientation so if someone can flip it right I'd appreciate it.
