looks good from here. those are some heavy duty axle stands you have there. a couple look like the axle tubes from an old tractor.

Don't forget to take the front suspension off, getting ready for IFS. It would be much easier with just the frame to work with. PS: You will go with IFS if you drive it much.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

before you take front end off, if getting ready for IFS, centre punch a mark on the frame that denotes the axle centreline. you will need that later, especially if you plan on lowering the truck at all. also, while it is up in the air anyway, do a frame check for out of square (corner to corner check-not more than 1/8" out of square) and a check down the middle of the cross members to see if the frame is straight front to rear and up and down (swayback or sag). better to catch it now than later.

Installed a seat out a 2005 Chevy and took it out for a drive. It is so much more comfortable to drive with the new seat.

No snow on the ground but it still feels like winter in the air. Need some warmer weather soon!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

I was down at my sons shop last week, first time I had seen my truck since Christmas when he picked it up. In case anyone is wondering, like I was, the new rear cab panel for the BBW converson had a Key Parts label and no hole for the fuel filler. I've used Key parts before so I'm fine with that, and happy that there's no filler hole.

My wife and I drove up to Cave Creek to the Dairy Queen, and sat in the truck eating blizzards like a couple teenagers.
She understands what that stupid old truck means to me, and goes along for the ride whenever she can.
I love that woman!

Picked up my new power plant today. Can't wait to get that 5.3 motor on the freshly painted frame. But first I have to paint the motor and get it cleaned up.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

We have come a long way, haveen't we?
a run of the mill truck engine from a stocker has aluminum heads, plastic intake, a coil for each cylinder, and a computer to get the fuel mixture and timing correct while shifting the transmission and supplying signals to run the electronic gauges.
Then it troubleshoots the engine and tells you what's wrong!!

It's a 102 degrees today.
I'm going to let the truck rest today and drive the corvette. It will be cooler this weekend.
I gotta finish the air in the truck.
The biggest problem is the glove box door.
The door drops down right where I put the louvers for the air conditioner, so i'm going to make some slides that slide the door back towards the passenger's knees.
That way, the air will look good, and I don;t lose any functionality with the truck.
I found some slides for an aircraft ice bucket that are ball bearing, so I'm going to use those.

no pic available, just a spot where the pic should be. when you want to add a pic youhave to click on reply, not quick reply, then scroll down to manage attachments and click on that. a seperate window should come up that allows you to browse files and add stuff. when done click on the upload button there and they should attach themselves. not sure on how to do that from a mobile though. sorry.reeaally not that techie of a guy.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Those S10 Blazer mirrors, I believe '86 or in that era. They really fit the body lines on these trucks and used on both my '62 and now the '56.

The glass kits are from Specialty Power Windows and work great. No scraping or binding if you use the pattern that comes from SPW. I had trouble with a kit I bought pre-cut glass and it was wrong. Use the pattern it really matters.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

got my truck fired yesterday. it was great to hear it run even though it was only for a short time. I need to adjust the fuel pressure now and it will be ready for a test drive. have to admit I'm happy.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

got my spark issue corrected. funny thing was I had already fixed the issue and forgotten about it. when I went searching I found it and it fired right away. the truck fired right away as it always has but it only ran for about 15 seconds and then died. so I'm working on fuel pressure now. I filled the float bowls and it fired and ran for about 30 seconds. settled right into its normal lopey idle then died again. I'm tring to find out why I have no fuel pressure. ive really just started tracing it and don't expect it to be a big deal.
