Re: 1970 C10 ChassisFab Build Thread

Great progress! That hidden trailer hitch is sweet. We will have to see some pics of it in use once you start haulin' with it! I like the random shop buddy pics. And that actuated parking brake is trick! That is an awesome idea. I could have used something like that on mine. With the exhaust tucked up in the frame I had a hard time routing the brake cables. They still rub and bind on the exhaust a bit and cause the pedal to have trouble returning.

Thanks all for the words of encouragement! Pops helped me move the frame to his place today to give me some more space at my house. On to phase two!

I appreciate it! It's an aluminum intercooler pipe with some silicone hose attachments on each end. Had to trim one side of it.

That's a beautiful rolling chassis! That orange just pops. I'm along for the ride.

Nick, nice work on this, but I have a question about the oil fill and pcv provisions. I'm assuming you had to get an intake that had the oil filler tube on it, was it new or used? Also , what about pcv?

Thanks, Rg

I had my engine builder drill a hole for a baffled PCV grommet in the back of my Edelbrock intake. The intake is the one with the front oil fill option. Here's a pre-made version that has some good pics:

Nice touch on the wheel well corner. Most people miss that and it always stands out to me. I've always wondered why GM made that change between long and short beds.

Re: 1970 C10 ChassisFab Build Thread

Sectioned the rear wheel wells to be able to raise the bed floor 10.5 inches. This was not easy by any means but I'm going for a stock look on the entire truck so this was a must.

Nice job on the tubs. Did you have to get extra tubs for your filler piece? When I did mine I used scrap that I cut out of my inner bed sides when I raised the floor. I still need to finish welding my tubs, it's been over a year!

That's super clever I hadn't even considered that! I did buy two tubs for each side... I wish they still made CHUB TUBz in the stock wheel width
