Mirrors?

So I just bought a set of repro mirrors from LMC....quality is nice but I was stuck with the "stupid look stick" when I saw them.

Do the factory small mirrors have two screws to mount or three? This came with three and I don't necessarily want to drill into the blazer to mount these.

Anyone know of anywhere I might find some that have two screws if that isn't an exact replacement? GMC paul's maybe?

Re: Mirrors?

Pics would help as mirror styles differed with at least three designs used for 69-72 K5's that varied by model year. I don't believe any factory mirror style was affixed with only two screws - at least three were used.

Re: Mirrors?

Mine have 3 screws. You can maybe use the 68-79 corvette mirrors which only have two mounting screws and look similar in appearance to the small square mirrors you purchased. The holes would probably not line up and you would have to re-drill anyway. Is there not 3 holes drilled in your doors from the existing mirrors? Im assuming these are the mirrors you have?

Re: Mirrors?

Those are indeed the mirrors I have. And no I do not have three holes drilled. When the blazer got reprinted in 95, they shaved all the emblems and filled the holes for them along with the original mirrors, cst trim and what not. They put some cheapo simulated chrome plastic mirrors on it that had only two mounting holes...similar length holes to what you'd see for 73-87 small mirrors.

The bracket for these hoes inside the door, does it not?

Re: Mirrors?

The mirror backing plate for the base model ("sport") mirrors shown in post #3 goes inside the door and the mirrors were mounted by GM in slightly different locations between the L and R doors to improve visualization of the RH mirror.

DeadHead, did they move the right mirror back a couple of inches toward the rear of the vehicle?

Yes IIRC - there's a diagram in the factory assembly manual and some threads on the subject. Believe the location was needed to keep the vent window out of the line of sight on the RH side. I have "sport" mirrors on my Blazer and don't really like the view they provide - they're nearly worthless with the 4" lift.

Here's a thread that may help: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=179279
