Brake light question

Hi guy, On my 91 S10 that I have been working on. I changed motors in it. Old motor was locked up when I bought the truck. When I have it running the brake light on the instrument cluster it blinks at me. It blinks 4 times the last time it stays on a sec long then the last 3. It blink like that all the time. What does it stand for? Thanks Tony

Re: Brake light question

So I take it that it doesn't mean anything when it flashes/blinks all the time. If it doesn't mean anything then how do you get it to stop

Re: Brake light question

It is a rear brake code just as the service engine light will sometimes blink the brake light has a code stored. If you know how to read engine codes with a paper clip you can do the same for the brake code. It goes in the upper left and lower right to make it [brake lamp] flash its code.
