V8 LS Conversion

I am wanting to do a V8 LS conversion on my 1999 S-10. I did one on my 1965 C-10 and it went great. Here is my question: I live in Illinois and I was wondering how will the swap will effect the emission testing? Right now I still have to get the truck tested when I renew the license plates. If anyone has any info on how the swap effects the emissions and/or how to get around the testing please let me know. Have a great night.

Robert

Re: V8 LS Conversion

I would think if you left the O2 sensors in you wouldn't have any problem. I only have the front ones on my exhaust but I'll bet my S10 would pass.

I imagine all places are different ... But I think as long as you have on there at min what was required in your truck in '99 it's good.

Like said... All states different, but doubt yours is worse than California

I plan on leaving the O2 sensors and Cats. In Illinois the hook the vehicle up to the computer, I'm worried that when they try to hook to the computer they may see it's a different computer for the LS conversion if I use 1 that comes with the engine or in case I use an aftermarket computer like the Holley or a Mega squirt. Thank you for the reply,
Robert
