Question 1989 GMC s15 ac problem

Have 1989 GMC s15...

Actually when ever I try to engage AC ..truck stops running ...engine just shuts off.

Before this ....I tried to refill refrigerant r134a and it worked for a while ..compressor was engaged while it was sucking refrigerant but later it made a little noise and stopped working...

Now whenever I try to engage ac either normal ac or max ac ...engine just shuts off...

May I used a wrong port, I bought a retrofit adapter kit.

Can anyone show a pic to point which is low port?

Can you turn the compressor by hand? It should turn fairly easily. Make sure you turn the compressor, not the pulley. You can turn the compressor with the belt still on the engine.

The compressor should not make noise. Noise means lack of lubrication. Once it makes noise, there's no fixing it. The damage is done. And there is probably shrapnel from the compressor in the condenser and a/c lines now.

If I had to guess, I would say your compressor is locked up

If the engine quits when you engage the AC, then I would second that the compressor is locked up.

Well for FYI ....it was missing 30 amp fuse that is why the moment I will turn on AC switch ..engine was dying..now its all ok but another problem ...no cold air...and clutch is spinning and everything is ok...accept that its not cold...so am thinking about changing compressor..
