Re: What HEI Ignition to get?

I'm considering this Skip White distributor for my 1983 C10.

Sounds like everyone has nothing but good things to say about them. I've had bad luck with distributors. I had the weight pins on a Proform come apart on me and now my MSD pro-billet is acting strange. Don't really want to spend too much money right now.

How many miles you guys have on these Skip White units?
Anyone had to do a warranty claim with him?

Has anyone purchased his plug wires?

Thanks!

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?

I've been running the Skip White Distributor for about a month now. So far so good. Everything looks and works great. Lifetime warranty too. We'll see how well it lasts.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?

On my my straight dumps I couldn't find a good way to route the front plug wires behind the manifiolds so I used a couple clips that came with my plug wire retainer kit that I got from LMC....just bolted it to the frame...well away from the manifolds...Not 100% factory but it does the job!

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?

The only issue I noticed with the skip white HEI compared to my GMPP HEI is that it didn't spin as "freely" as the GMPP. It was like good vs. ok bearings... for the price it would still make a good choice for an average motor.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?

I have to put in my 2 cents on the skip white ones, VetteVet told me about them and I have had mine in my 283 for a couple of months now and no problems with it at all. Napa wanted like $60 for a new coil and I got the skip white one for $45 so you can't beat it.
