First day

Of spring is here. And it's 29* right now. Trees have bloomed and grass is green. There's something wrong with this picture..

Re: First day

Yeah, it's not what we think of as spring, but the weather we've had for a month wasn't we we think of as winter either. Our average temps so far this month only saw one normal day with the rest 10-20+* above average. Just the other day it got to 80*. The wind is whipping it up pretty good today, and that's what we expect from March. It's the month of transition where winter systems and spring systems trade off and as they pass each other they get into a tussle. All winter we get wind coming from one direction or the other. Here in Maryland we get Alberta clippers from the northwest, which is the dominant direction for winter, or air drifting up from the Gulf of Mexico bring warmer moist air. When they mix we get the big snows they call Nor' Easters. In March the wind blows in every direction all at once, very turbulent. It even blows up. What we have now is two back to back cold fronts and after the early spring weather, the temps dropping to a bit belopw average, combined with the strong wind, we are freezing our butts off!!

Re: First day

Pollen is all about. My trucks are yellow with the sticky mess. My neighbor has already mowed 3 times. Just last week I got my mowers ready for the season. Thought I might mow mine this week. Eh, maybe not.

Re: First day

I'll be mowing soon. I'm behind on my flower bed prep, cutting things cut back, and mulch, due to my wheelbarrow handle getting broken when it had the first load in it. BTW, today is the Equinox but tomorrow is the first day of spring. It starts at about 11pm tonight, so they are calling tomorrow the first day since it's the first full day. and this morning I had snow dusting in places the wind didn't blow it off. I have 1/8-1/4" snow drifts!!

Re: First day

You must store that wheel barrow hanging on the wall or in a shed? If not, I am surprised the wood handle rotted before the metal.

I couldn't help myself. It was so nice I had to put the top down. I know I'll have to put it back up tomorrow night, but I'll enjoy it while I can

Not so much for us in central MN. Over the next few days we are going to get more snow than than we have had since 1 Jan.
No pollen issues. LOL.

Re: First day

We strung together some nice days here, got up to higher 60's. Got the lawn mowed and washed the vehicles. Went on a nice drive in the Fiat with the top down. Ended up down by Mt Rainier. On the way home we got in to some commuter traffic, I do not miss driving in that mess every single day =)

Re: First day

Yeah, spring is blooming down here. I washed the dust and pollen off my red 91. Within 2 hours it was yellowish green again. It's windy today so it will be worse.

So much for the topless Blazer. The snow was blowing sideways last night.

So about 5 inches of snow yesterday and another 5 inches from last night. The nice heavy wet stuff. Glad I got an LS6 in the Wrangler.

Re: First day

Yesterday was rain, cold, windy and today was cool and windy. 6'' of snow out in NW Kansas. Weather guesser says 26 for a low tonight. Just above freezing at the moment. Running the fire place right now, feels pretty good to.
