Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Hi Ray! That helps a lot. I'm definitely looking for the brace that is from the frame to the crossmember. I see what you mean now about the one that is frame to spring perch, but I do not need the tank to spring perch brace at all.

Frame to Crossmember it is please! Thanks!

Painted up my motor mounts and tailgate support brackets tonight. Tomorrow morning I am dropping the drive train in. I'm hoping to have the cab mounted by end of day tomorrow!

Thanks guys. I'm lookin' forward to getting this puppy put back together and on the road! I can't wait! We got our first few snowflakes yesterday. Thankfully they didn't stick to the ground yet, but it's a good reminder of what lies ahead!

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

This morning I started on getting the drive train mounted. I ran into a little snag with the tranny because I didn't have the TC seated properly. Thanks to those who set me straight on the other thread I posted. Here are some pics!

That looks great man. Just great. It's gonna look awesome when you get rest of the body mounted up. And the interior . I really like how well it's coming together. Good job 'bud' lol

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Thanks guys, Yes...yesterday was a big day. Now - with the cab on there is a whole new dimension to the project - wiring, core support wiring, the body starts to take shape, and you hit it Dennis - It starts to look like a truck again!

I had forgotten how high this thing sits. I almost need a step ladder to climb in!

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

I'm getting ready to bolt on my accessories on the engine, but thought I would paint them up pretty first. I also decided to do the same with the brake booster. Also, I bought a tilt column from another member earlier this year, but never got around to opening the box...until last night. One issue...the tilt column is equipped with cruise control, but my truck has no cruise. Do any of you guys know if that will be a problem for me?

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

cruise wont be a problem... its just a 4 wire connector that is separate from everything else. it a small flat connector that is usually hanging from the bottom of the column.

Awesome! Good to know. Other than that the turn signal/wiper controls are the same. I haven't examined the connectors on the column yet to see if they are the same on the tilt and the old column. If they are then I should be in business!
