Question about rear power window

On an 84 suburban. I put the key in to roll the window down and the dome lights dim but window doesn't roll down. Bad motor, or switch? I never had one with tailgate, only barn doors. I tried to search the forum but it didnt work.
Thanks

Re: Question about rear power window

try doing it with the engine running...some of the older switches don't allow enough amperage and some of the motors can be weak and the additional amperage from the alternator can help. could also just be a stuck window. have someone push down on the glass with the switch engaged.

Re: Question about rear power window

The power wire for the keyed window switch has a weather proof quick disconnect behind the bumper. I found my power wire to be corroded enough that I was only getting 5-6V at the switch. Enough to dim the light, but not operate the motor. I replaced the corroded section and now with 12V at the switch, the window works fine. Before this repair, I could only operate the window from the dash.

I will check that out. It doesn't even work from the dash though.

Re: Question about rear power window

you can also check and make sure the cable isn't messed up. Mine has a cable from the motor to the regulator like a speedometer cable that can get either dry or sticky.

Re: Question about rear power window

Got new battery, window works with key in back door, but not with dash switch.
