cstm68: i got a 2" cowl and thats a 4" air cleaner and i bet theres at least 2-3 more inches left to spare, you could easily do it with a shorter air cleaner on a stock hood

Re: blower install

race preped turbo 350 manual valve body with 3200 stall converter with ballooning plate. cstm68 yes you can use a blower on your 327 as long as your compresion is under 10-1. i would recomend a142 c.i.d blower with timming retarded 2 deg per 1 p.s.i of boost or boost controler and good fuel pump and carb.bolt one on and injoy the power.also save some $$$$$$$ for new rear tires

Re: blower install

cstm68: from what I learned from doing this the smaller the motor the more psi your going to be pushing into the motor I would think it would be fine if you got forged pistons or if you have low compression
price wise I paid 1500 for the blower kit from advanced auto but it was with the 20% brother discount,
carb: $500
boost controler: $230
fuelpump: $30
duel feed carb line $40
new plugs: $20?
throttle spring: $10
trans kickdown cable: $80

I would say you would need about $1000 worth of stuff besides the kit I spent about 1300 but have about 200 worth of stuff to return I would start by buying the blower, carb, boost controler, duel feed line, and the kick down cable and go from there I had a short water pump for example that made hooking belts up the biggest pain in the butt find someone who works at advanced auto and save $300

Re: blower install

very nice, looks good!

wow, I can't wait til I get my shortbox project goin. I gotta get ahold of a big block, then it's on. I'm going to build it as gnarly as I can, but keep it streetable, probably will run 8.0:1 compression, just so I can keep it drunk on pump fuel (and look cool at the gas station, hah) Race fuel gets kinda spendy. Anyways, I've decided that since I'm still young dumb and full of come i'm gunna hold nothin back on a hot rod steet/strip ripper 72 shorty.

Big block, all the goodies, Weiand 6-71 blower (I'd go with the 8-71, but I want to drive it on the street too) probably just dual 750cfm holleys, (although I'd love to do an 8-71 dual 950's setup, but again, this truck will be built to show and go, not race alone) and my alltime favorite big bad three red butterflies Enderle-style air cleaner.

I've just been tossing around ideas lately for a blown big block set up, and would like to push at least 700, 750 horse range, hell, even pushing 800 would make me real happy, without nitrous. But while I'm here, any of you guys who know blowers good have any ideas? What would you suggest for a 6-71 setup, what kind of internal engine parts would you recommend, and what kind of power ranges would you expect me to see, high and low end RPMs?

Re: blower install

I would just put on the 177 if your going to use it on the street and want the show side plus it would be a lot cheaper.

I finaly got my truck running good and it has not traction issues at all with the nitto 555R's on there just hooks and goes, now I need more power so i can break them loose.

i've looked a little at them, and decided against it. I'm not going for a budget build, or anything like that. I personally love the looks of the 6 and 8-71 blowers, much more than the smaller blowers. It's not just looks I'm going for though, and not just a daily driver type of a short box with a blown big block. I'm head set on the 6-71, probably dual 750cfm carbs, just the rest isnt set in stone. I'm going to build this truck to be a bad ass monster, and to show all these rice rockets up too , and to have something if I want, I can take to the track and do really good, but mainly drive on the street (ocassionaly, not every day though) and spin em loose everytime I want. Not trying to sound like some jacktard young dumb kid who knows little and wants a lot, I'm just tryin to spell out what I want to build, ya know.

Re: blower install

Well it's been a little while since I have posted about this and a little has changed, I ditched the crappy dented 1 1/2 headers in favor for 1 3/4 headman elites, I have done quite a bit if piddling with the carb and got it running as good as I can without a dyno. I cut the old exaust down and got a huge power gain or at lest thats what my ass gauge tells me. So I decided to go all out on the exaust. 3' mandral bent, X pipe, dumping out the side of the truck in front of the rear wheel wells.

now what do you do with the old intake and headers?

and heres me rocking the 67-72chevytrucks.com T
