Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

I'd like to find one of those too! I found one without a key but can't get a locksmith to key it for me. There's an opportunity - become a good locksmith - - - -

Have you seen the mod of a garage door handle? I did it to my last hatch and didnt have any issues, best part was it looked new and was under $10

Thats what the AM guys are selling, garage door handles. I like the OE stuff, AM last resort. I might ask a local locksmith to re-key - but my OE handle has some pitting. Still looking... thanks

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

Search Ebay they come up more often than you think. I got NOS off ebay for a little over $100. I have seen then go up to $ 300. I have a nother nice handle with no key. I have 2 locksmiths here in Northern Va who told me because of design couldn't be re keyed. But there have been board members who say they have gotten theirs redone. I thought about getting a name and trying to contact them. Good Luck

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

My handle is stuck in the vertical (open) position. Is the latch mechanism messed up from this? Would it be worth having a locksmith take a look, or do I need a new assembly?

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

I found a locksmith in Florida. Well, my brother found him. He says he can re-key it. My handle is there now. Should be ready any day now re-keyed to fit my key. I'll post when I actually have it.

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

Hey thanks for the info. The OE handle that I have is a pitted on the chrome. I really don't care use that one. I'm looking for a good/clean used OE handle with or without key at this point. When you get it back, can you let me know where the locksmith is located and a thumbs up or down on the workmanship?

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

Should have it any day. I'll let you know. Mine is driver quality, but my intent was to send it out to get re-chromed while the lock cylinder is out. I'll keep you posted. I'm old and forgetful. If you don't hear from me try a PM.

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

If you end up getting one without a key let me know, I have a guy that can get them keys for $125, usually takes about a day if he is not busy.

If someone wanted to send me a handle I would take a look at it to see if it could be re-keyed. I don't see why it couldn't though. $125 sounds kind of high for a re-key job...

Re: WTB: Hatch Handle and Key

Just thought I'd pass along - - - I'm still waiting. Have heard nothing from the locksmith in Florida and I'm not one to push people. I'm thinkin he's takin a likin to my handle and I may never see it again. Not too sure I'd recommend him.
