I'm pretty sure this was when I had my truck at 2/4, with stock 8" ralleys and 275/60R15's. Anyway, it's been several years but I think I'm right.

yeah 2/4 is the way to go as long as you're not ghettoing things out. im gonna spring for 2/4 eventually, when $$$ is rolling better.

Mike that is a great looking truck and just the stance I am going for. Cliff, no gangsta here......just some 15x8 ralllies or the wheels that are currently on it. Mike would my 255/70/15 tires make a difference as in being closer to the fenders?

No, you'll be fine. Your tires are 29" and the 275's I had were 28. 2/4 is by no means a drastic drop. There is plenty of tire clearance. 2/4 is not ghetto but I guess my 4/6 is.

I think my 2.5 spindle 4 shackle/hanger was $350 shipped from sport truck direct. I'm not too sure though b/c that was a long time ago.

Here it is as a fleetside long bed:

And as it is now, Stepside short bed (yes its the same truck!) The front looks higher b/c the motor is out:

through a board search, i am resurrecting this thread! I currently have a 2000 s10 as my daily driver that is slammed! i have a 3/4 drop on my xtreme and my front end is about 1.5" from the ground... i did this with 2" spindles and 3" blocks in the rear....

my question is with our 73-87's how do you acheive a 2/4 drop...

from this post, i see most all with a spindle up front... and either a flip kit, drop springs, or hanger/shackles in the rear??? so, i'm stumped!

also, someone had a great post up about lowering before with part numbers and costs, ect... where'd it go!!! i can't find it!

2/4 isnt much of a drop, you'll prolly want more later. Get a spindle for the front though, because its the easiest that way to just add springs to.

The rear, get some shackles and hangers, but keep the stock stuff if you want to put it back on to go lower later with a flip kit.

Front spindles can get you a 2.5 or 3 inch drop in the front. You could also go with drop springs, but you lose some suspension travel.

On the back, you can get 4 inches with hangers and shackles. You can also go with 4 inch drop springs. A flip kit would get you 5 to 6 inches of drop, I think.

How that’s interesting how his 2in front is lower than mine and I have 3in belltech spindles. I have a way bigger fender gap. These are 255/60/15 so they 27in.

What engine do you have in that? Engine selection can play a role in front end height. Even swapping from cast iron heads and intake to aluminum pieces drops weight big time.

I got a 454 baby! With long tube headers so I like that it clears them now with these new springs but the drop before it was way better! But I didn’t like hitting the headers on high speed ups . Look how bad it tucked those 255/60s. But it was just too bouncy. And crazy that the new springs and the old ones where the same Height. Had no idea that it was going to lift up that much like a 4x4

And it’s pretty much leveled now with the back being 29 and 1/4in And the front being 29 and 3/4in almost 30in. So they are pretty much same height and the back I have just a drop shackle. I don’t think they make 4in shackle so I guess it’s just a 3in. I plan on just getting a belltech drop shackle and hanger for the a real 4in drop and maybe cut a coil or .5 of a coil for that fine tuning and have it dialed at the same height

Wow, I expected to hear small block with aluminum top end or and LS swap. That’s some pretty tall ride height with a big block!

Edit: If those are new springs on there and your old ones were too bouncy, it may be beneficial to you in more than one way to cut a bit out of those new springs. One, you can get back to the ride height you were at before, and two, since you’ve cut a coil, you’ve increased the spring rate over stock, so they’ll be more resistant to bottoming out at the same height.

Exactly . I was so confused to why it’s so high. But man the front ride is so much better with these new moog springs and bell tech street performance shocks. I’ll definitely I’ll be cutting a bit when I do my shackles and hangers! I plan on going with 18s but I want good rubber and stay at 28in or 29in tall tires but tire selection is a big issue because I want matching 255s and anything in 275,285 , or 295. Best tire size so far with 4 tire selection of The same brand is 245/50/18 and 275/45/18. Both at 27.7in tall and like i said both with 4 options of the same brand. So can’t wait!

Be patient.The front will settle down a bit over time. It might settle as much as in inch. 255-70's would close the gap up also.

I've been thinking about doing a 2/4 drop on mine. Only reason why, I had a stroke 3 years ago and it'd be easier for me to set down in. 255/70-15 all the way around plus I'm putting the camper shell back on. My go 10" wheels on it instead of 8's
