Re: 1 ton dually pics post

this may sound like a stupid question, but was the extended cab and quad cab versions a factory option? or were these custom?

there is a 69 chevy wrecker down the road from me that i've been drooling over for about a year now. thing just sits there, rusting away...
If I had the money, I'd jerk the fellas arm off taking the keys...

thats what I figured, but it never hurts to ask.

I have an idea in my head for a quad-cab duallie mutt truck ( If I ever get the money and the skill) and I hope to learn as much as I can about welding/body work. cabs are suburban cut with pickup backs welded on? I'm assuming that he flares on the pickup beds are from the stepside trucks.

was there any lengthening/ shortening required of the beds themselves?

The flares on the bed are cut down stepside fenders. I didn't have to cut the bed, but since the C-30's are either 133" or 157" wheelbase, and LWB is 127", I had to cut my frame 6". I have detailed pics of how I did everything for mine in my build thread below.

67_C-30 Has a thread all about building up a bed with stepside fenders to make it into a dually.

As well Kevin Rokcrln Has a thread where he builds a crew cab out of a burban. His work on it is second to none, it turned out really nice. He knows his stuff.

Re: 1 ton dually pics post

Not duallys, BUT they are 1 tons. Here's two hard to find SRW 9 foot stepsides. Fort those who don't know, they are built on 133" Longhorn or 1 ton wheelbase and have a foot longer bed than a normal LWB stepper. They are odd looking, but very cool IMO.

Re: 1 ton dually pics post

Here is mine. Needs some work but it runs pretty good. Today its getting a leg transplant. This one was special ordered from the factory with the GM H110 rear axle with 6.17 gears. I found a gm 14 bolt out of an 84 that is going in right now (I am literally on break). It should actually be able to drive around town now and keep up with traffic.

You are in a thread on the 67-72 section. That's why you don't see any 60-66's on here.

Post some pics when you bring it home!
