Problem with ingine stalling out??
Need a little help guys. My 72 blazer has a 78 motor in it and a edelbrock 4 barrel carb. Was running fine before I parked it. But now it will idle fine but after giving it the gas and letting off it dies. Like its not getting fuel after letting off the gas?? Any and all ideas would be appreciated.

How long did it sit? So it will idle (what RPM) then when you pump the gas it dies? Is it in gear or neutral?
Could be fuel filter, i'd check the fuel floats too. |

All of the above. At idle in park if I push the gas it dies when I let off. And in gear if i push the gas and let off it dies, which is not good because then I lose stearing, lol. has a good fuel filter. Where exactly are the fuel floats? if they are sticking would it do that?

how do you know the fuel filter is good? did you replace it?
How long did it sit? Whats your idle rpm? Floats are in the carb. Can you maintain an elevated rev, ie hold it at 2000 rpm in neutral? |

When I say it sat, I went over and started it and let it run monthly. I had just replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, plugs and wires about 10 months ago. I just havent been driving it around. But was starting it and letting it run. not sure about the rpm as I only have the regular gauge not the rmp gauge.

before parking it about 9 or 10 months ago I replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires. I have been starting it monthly and letting it run just not driving it around. it is also smoking, white smoke. Not sure about the rpm's I don't have an rpm gauge.

Will it hold an elevated RPM in neutral before dying as you let off the gas?
When you replaced all the parts 9-10 months ago were you able to drive it around? |

When I let of the gas it immediately starts sputtering and dies. After I replaced all that stuff I drove it home from the fire station. Could it possibly be a vacuum leak?

It's a possibility that it's a vacuum leak. Hows the idle quality? Smooth or erratic?
