just noticed that the rear windows appear to be nothing more than the front windows flipped 180 degrees with that little spacer window there to finish it all off (I am sure that is comfortable for rear passengers wanting to put there arms in the window). Gotta love the cost saving measures from back in the day....at least they made a new rear door, I always get a kick out of the old crew cabs with just a second set of front doors for the rears!

Well I stoped by to look at the new project and I think I may have curved his thought about which truck to build first. Luckly my shop is deep enough to fit this new toy. It should be comming over in a few weeks to get its cherry popped.

This truck started out as a Burb and had the rear cut off a few inches in side the rear door opening and then a truck cab was grafted on the back. They did a good job with everything that was done. The rear door is a stock burb door with a truck upper window chanel grafted on from a truck to keep the perportions correct. The stock burb door is square at the upper rear corner and most trucks that I have seen chopped and turned crew cab just leave them squared and it does not look right. The door glass is also burb and they both roll down and the small rear pain of glass is currently just plastic they cut to fit the truck portion grafted to the burb door.

What I would like to see is the bed chopped down to the same length as his other extended cad truck which is about 6" shorter then a short bed. Then throw a small lift and some 35's. But that is just my thoughts!

I probably paid too much for the truck but for the money I paid I could not get it in this condition. I checked the rear end ratio today during breaks in the rain and it has a 4.11 rear end as far as I can tell so it will need an overdrive trans to make it a good highway rig. I drove it about 5 miles the other day and it seemed to drive nice but at 55 MPH ti seemed like it really wanted to shift again. The small block is a little small I think for it, needs a big block to make it go.

Here are some new pictures of the truck. I have sold the in bed gas tank and the headache bar from the truck and have taken the bed off the truck for repairs to the cab corners. You may notice in my pictures my custom new gas tank, not too good at fast speeds or between gas stations.

I had one just like that. Although on yours you may only get down the street a block or two.

Looks like someone built that a while back.It was probably a pretty fresh 3+3 when they lifted the body off.The body was approached the right way that many are just now figuring out,using a Suburban donor.The guy was ahead of his time.And,it was built to use,that`s cool.It`s gonna be awesome all pretty.

Question, why do we thinik it is a cut down burb? Other than the door and window, is there anything else suggesting it?
Where does the original frame stop, and the C channel steel start?

I still think that's a pretty sweet ride.

The frame that it is on looks to be a mid 80's frame, I would guess a crew cab long bed frame. I have posted a few pictures where it looks like it had the bows from a Suburban that were removed. I also included a few pictures of the frame.

I'm thinking like Longhorn Man, if it was a burb, then the roof had to be replaced because they have a higher roofline than the trucks. And if thats the case, would the PO really get a cab roof with the lights in it? I think it might have been a truck with suburban parts. But you know what, it really doesn't matter does it?

We need to see some updates on the 67 too. I just scrolled through that thread and was completely impressed with the work Kevin does. Speaking of work, I better get to mine or I'll be selling my truck to pay bills.

The cab lights were a bolt on item on this truck and soon to be unbolted. They drilled a few holes for the lights and bolted them on. This truck was used on a ranch in Northern California, by the Oregon border I was told. I have already sold the 36 gallon gas tank that was bolted to the bed and the headache bar too. That is the reason for the 6 gallon gas tank strapped to the bed until I get the Suburban gas tank under the frame. This cab was modified to fit the later model frame as seen in the pictures of the rear cab corners.

OK, I think I am sold on it being a burb. I was going by the same thing that hgs_notes was going by... but, this pic;

Is there a model number in the glove box SPID label?
As far as the clearance lights go, they aren't 67 - 72 originals anyways.

again, not trying to pic your rig apart.... that sucker is baddass.

I have already picked it apart for what I liked and disliked. I am thinking about should I keep it a longbed or convert it to a shortbed. The glovebox is from a GMC so it is incorrect so no help there.
