Saginaw 4 Speed to Borg Warner T5 Swap - Driveshaft Length?

I'm in the midst of a swap from a Saginaw 4 speed to a World Class T5 in my 1966. I've been reading that I need to shorten my driveshaft, but I thought I'd kick a few ideas around before I take the driveshaft over to the shop (or look into other options)

I know the T5 is about 2" longer than the Saginaw. My driveshaft, with the carrier bearing pushed all the way forward in its slot, puts the slip yoke about 1-3/4" off of the tail housing. I was wondering if I would be able to make the T5 fit with that amount of engagement left in the slip yoke, it would it present any sort of danger to the driveline?

If it won't work as-is, aside from shortening the two piece driveshaft, would it be more worthwhile to get a one piece driveshaft made?

Thanks in advance.
