Re: Finally completed the rear disc replacement on my ho52!!

Thanks for sharing.
I looked into doing this to a 14 bolt years ago.
I just left the drums on it.
I might use this kit

Here’s how did it. Start around post 161

Hydraboost brakes are great. Other than my '72. That what my daily drivers have had since the '80s. First on one tons, then started driving diesels in '89. Don't have a diesel now but my '95 Suburban K2500 with 350 even has hydraboost
The parking brake is the reason I chose to custom fit the ‘01+ late model brakes to one of my extra 14 bolts. Factory reliable parking brakes intended for a full size HD truck. Plus all off the shelf replacement parts.

No problem, just some hydraboost food for thought. When I was trying my brakes out hard for the first time after the hydraboost swap, I went to a big open vacant parking lot where sears used to be in the local mall. I went across the parking lot at about 35-40mph and hit the brake pedal moderately hard. It locked all four tires up and stalled the engine out. (It re-fired when I released the pedal, I’ve got a 4speed) That was with old used front pads and rotors, and new rear 3.5” (the big 14 bolt brakes) shoes, wheel cylinders, etc and who knows how old used drums. It will still lock them up just as easy if I try, some 10-15K miles later.
