I Need a turn key engine for my 72 C-10

Any and all advice would be appreciated. I've checked out the obvious ones, summit, jegs, edelbrock..etc. I'm not against a remanufactured engine. Lot's of choices and this is my first frame off restoration I want to do this right the first time and not have any regrets. Thanks to all, stay bowtie to the bone!

Shipping might run more than a local reputable shop for you though.

Check out speedwaymotors.com too. They carry Blueprint which are reman but with a comparable warranty to GM.

local GM dealers sell turn key engines and they have a pretty good warranty just a thought.

I have the 330 hp GM crate motor, I think it runs pretty strong.

Re: I Need a turn key engine for my 72 C-10

I got mine from 5 star engines out in Arizona. They are on ebay, but I called them and ordered one with a few different options. It was $3k shipped to my door with a 1 yr unlimited mile warranty. 350/325hp. Unfortunately I haven't run it anywhere but inside my garage yet.... Sounds damn good though

Check out the GM performance 383 motors. They should be fun in one of these trucks and they come as a new crate engine.

I bought my engine from United Racing Engines out of Arizona. Built how I wanted it. To use stock torque converter, stock vacuum for power brakes. 465 HP/465 TQ. 3-yr/100,000 mile warranty.

Re: I Need a turn key engine for my 72 C-10

that 290hp GMPP 350 sounds good for what it is .. I had one about 14 BTDC, Flows, HEI, headers, RPM intake, 650 Holley. It's pretty impressive. I'm pretty sure they are around .222 (?) Something like that .. I can't recall. It had a decent lick to it.

One problem .. and this has been years ago. As you may or may not be aware, those engines are built in Mexico. Not that that's a bad thing, or the reason why .. But, there was a QC issue with them having the wrong valve seals in them. Mine ended up having 4.3L seals in it. It started leaking oil just enough to cause it to smoke out the exhaust. Replaced the seals and it was fine.

Again .. just FYI.
