Has anyone on here had a dealings with Mast Motorsports? I am thinking about going to an LSX engine in my blazer. I am torn between the N/A LSX 454 that Mast offers or buiding one on my own. I am also contemplating a supercharged ls based engine.

I want to get as much torque as possible, so I either need cubic inches or a blower.

I spoke with the guys at Mast and I like the fact that you get basically a turn key engine that is dyno tuned, but they are pricey. I am thinking I can do a close to stock LS3 with a maggi or KB and make the 640hp the LSX 454 makes.

Isn't a Mast motor as pricey as buying a LSX 454 from GMPP?

Also...a better choice might be the "made for boost" LSX 376? It has (or had?) forged components and something like 9:1 compression (tho I've also seen 10.7:1?). I will say though all the ones I see lately for maybe $1-2k less (were like $7-8k?) then the "all forged" and have only forged pistons and a cast crank and rods.

And...in buying a LSX 376...you can always bore and stroke it out to 454 or so later...

this one is under $6k .....you'd probably want to upgrade the crank and rods to forged tho as only the pistons are forged on this one:

If your looking at a turn key Ls based engine, look at these. no experience with them, just have heard about them is all.

I can tell you that customer service and quality products are number one priority with MAST. You know you can get close to that kind of power from one of their ls3 based 427's for a good bit less. You sacrifice the iron block though. I help out in the dyno cell there at MAST and I watch the LS3/427's break a good bit over 600Hp all the time.
