Front drop/tire fitment issues.

I am having an issue with my 17x7 4"bs wheels with a 235/55-17 tire protruding from the wheel well. The teruck is lowered 4" in the front with 2" spindles and 2" springs. After doing some research i have conluded that my problem may be caused by the spindles. Unfortunetly do not recall which brand i have. I do know they arent a high end brand like belltech or western. So i have a few questions.
1. Is it true that djm is the only brand of spindle that does not widen the front "track"?
2. How do i know what brand if there isnt a name or part # in the casting?
3. For anyone responding can you include all relevent specs for your drop/wheel setup?

Please and thank you

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

Just thought that i might also mention that i am unable to post any pics for reference. Photobucket now required a paid sub of like $10 a month or something. Thats a bit much for something i might use a few times a year. Sorry. Not sorry.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

What is your wheel offset? I have 22x9 on my 97 C1500 with Belltech spindles and it tucks in the fender.

BTW DJM stuff is junk and wouldn’t use it. Here are my wheel specs:

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

React Suspension has a new modular spindle for the 88-98 OBS trucks.
I would give them a call.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

Sounds like the problem is the wheel offset.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

So what is the issue? The tire sticks out too much? 7" wheel with 4" b/s should tuck. That's prolly close to stock wheel size. My Tahoe is lowered via cut coil, it's more than 2" now, with stock wheels it fits fine. Even with the 8.5" vette wheels, and spacers it doesn't push it out. Those spindles push it that much?? Got a pic?

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

just the other day i watched a youtube video in which the guy had lowered his 94 or 95 with coils a control arms. he had an 8" truck rally with a 225/70 that fit just fine. that certainly added to my confusion.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

lolife99 those spindles look legit and would like fix my issue (if it is my spindles) but the brake requirement is a bit confusing. i suppose it would help to know if i have hd brakes.

Give AZ ProPerformance a call.
They know these trucks and can help you with their React Suspension products.
They are the ones that developed these drip spindles.

They also have a Facebook page

On average 88-91 trucks had Light Duty spindles with a 1” wide rotor.
The 92-98 trucks had the HD spindles with a 1.25” wide rotor.
The 88-91 trucks can easily be convert to the HD rotors.
But you’d also have to change calipers.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

You never mentioned how much the wheel is sticking out. To me it’s not a spindle issue. Factory wheels were usually between 35-40 mm offset. You switching to a 0 offset wheel pushed the wheel outward around 1.5”. Put a factory wheel on there just to see where the wheel is.

Back in 1997, I had 15” wheels on there with the belltech 2” and 2” springs. After cutting the lip of the lower control arm, no issues. Hell I put the 15” back on for nostalgia sake. It looks like the wheel sticks out but you have to remember that the front of the fender tapers in.

Re: Front drop/tire fitment issues.

lolife99 thanks for the info about the brakes also. My truck is a 93 sierra c1500 so it should have hd brakes. this thing was never molested by the original owner. I paid $1500 for it almost 3 years ago. the 1st thing i did was repaint a set of rallies and new tires (15x6.5, 235/70's front 15x8, 265/70's rear) Then a few months later i lowered it and went thru the brakes in the process. new calipers, pads, rotors, dust shields, and steel braided hoses.
