1968 C front marker lights?

I just bought a 68 c20, I noticed I don't have any pigtails going to the side markers, someone told me they wont have any power to the side markers, they are reflectors. I have power on the rears but nothing to the front

Thanks in advance

Reflectors are correct for ‘68. You can splice in pigtails for the front of omit the rear bulbs or cut the pigtails off and seal them.

Reflectors are also correct for early '69s.

I wanted mine to light, so I hit the junkyard for the wiring harnesses from the radiator support to the headlights and marker light housings used in later trucks. If you go this route, there were 2 different lighting options. The earlier version does not flash the markers with the turn signal whereas the second version does.

I have a 69 that has side marker lights, but with no wires going to any of them. Has a place for bulbs, but can not find any wires and/or connectors anywhere. Seems funny not to have any loose wiring or anything in the wiring harness.

It's possible yours have been replaced, especially if your truck has deluxe markers with the chrome trim. The deluxe markers were introduced in the mid 1969 model year on the higher trim levels only, and it was common for owners to replace their standard markers. Lighted versions of the standard markers were also introduced during the 1969 model run. Here's a picture of a non-lighted standard marker from my '69.

Re: 1968 C front marker lights?

I've seen this situation (marker light lenses without harness), and I wonder if it reflects new markers in the parts pipeline before the new harnesses were introduced.

Re: 1968 C front marker lights?

This post caught my eye because I have a 68 C40 Same exact lens but mine are lighted on the half where the circle is in the photo. They are pretty faded and was wondering if anyone knows who makes new replacements for them. The fronts are same condition so Im looking to replace all of them. Ironically the cab lights lens are like brand new and they are the same age..

All the catalog companies have them, Classic Industries, LMC, Truck Shop, Southern Kentucky Classics, Brothers, Manes, etc. Just pick the one you like the best and go shopping in their catalog or website. And there are a bunch of sponsors of this forum who sell stuff like that too, like GMC Paul and MCB Matt.

Aftermarket wiring harness have a provision for lighting the front markers or not.....
The replacement marker lenses I ordered can be lit or not based upon preference. There is a socket for a bulb or you can run as a reflector only.
I'm not sure if this is helpful jus sayin
