Re: A real Unicorn, Finally 71' Cheyenne Super SWB BB

That is a very nice truck! I as well like that air cleaner. A guy I know has a 69 Chevelle SS 396 375hp 4 speed car andhis has this same air cleaner on it. I'm guessing there are a lot more of these trucks hiding out on the west coast waiting to be discovered.

I agree.
It's just so hard to find them rust free and un-molested.

Thanks for taking the time for the pics.
I wonder how many people think it's been repainted since the wooden floor in the bed has been painted over. (that's how they were)
Longhorn Man, don't let me down and say you don't know, but is there a possible way that the truck could have came with that air cleaner?

If its not for sale, and rumors are its inheritance for her son..Then I feel its rude to even ask for it..Dont get me wrong, Id love to have it, but if thats what she wants to leave her kid after she passes..then its kinda messed up to even assume she would sell it.

Wood, strips, and bolt heads.

Think this truck has been freshened up at some point in it's 40 year life?
I agree with Keith... maybe even a restoration? The woodgrain on the glove box is not original, I believe the tach has been added and it is not the original radiator.. never the less, a beautiful truck.

I have to agree, it's nice, but not really untouched. The rallies are the first thing that's not original, I know I know, wheels are easy to change. But it's also got a black houndstooth seat, the only way a true Cheyenne Super got black interior was with buckets, and then they were solid vinyl. Also the van tilt shift indicator doesn't do anything to make it look original either.

I kinda agree, but who started the rumor? Maybe someone who wants it worse?

Why was this only with a black interior?

Rene... no way the air cleaner is stock. Those were only on performance cars. As mentioned before, it is probably worth quite a bit on its own.

Black was the only interior color that there was no original houndstooth bench seat. Parchment, dark green, and blue were the only colors to have houndstooth. You could get buckets in those colors too, but no houndstooth on them.

Cool, I learned something new today! I have had two Supers, one with blue houndstooth bench, and one with parchment houndstooth bench. I did know that the buckets were all originally solid vinyl.

AGREED! The first give away I saw to a resto was the bed floor- then all the other clues everyone has added- AND the side trim all appears to have been polished rather than the anodized duller finish from the factory.

Still a killer truck- surprised they didn't add buckets to make it a "full boat"!

Maybe the owner had a senior moment and didn't think about it.

The brake booster looks like a 3/4 ton unit too.
