Hey all. I have been putting off installing a windshield in my 1970 Chevy panel truck. I cleaned up the frame, POR-15'd it, and still put it off for 2 weeks. I was waiting for one of my buddies to offer to help me do it. But that didnt happen.
So i put it in BY MYSELF. Deluxe trim too. Last time tried it i broke a glass. Good thing it wasnt a new one. But tonight i put in a new glass,new seal, and the trim.
No soap, did it dry. It took me 2 hours to install the seal,install the trim and put the glass in. I had not done the trim before.
I bought the windshield at a swap meet a couple years ago. Tinted and shaded at the top.
I will get pics tommorrow. For anyone who thinks they cant do it think again. It wasnt too bad. But if you have any rings on your fingers take them OFF!!!!!! You have to do plenty of slappin' on the glass to get the seal to set properly. And i dont think you want to crack the glass with a ring. Also get some quality nylon string. Worked great.
Now on to building my custom dash. I will get some pics of it too. Just wanted pat myself on the back for gettin' my glass in. Thanks for reading my rantings.

I've been putting off installing my Rear slider. Well, mainly I need to get weather stripping. Hehe. Hey also, I noticed in your sig. you got that 68 dump from Randy. If you wanna know where your full foam seat that is listed on the glove box door is, I sit on it everyday going to and from work.....LOL!!

So it's in my 69.

You did good... especially doing it with the trim also... makes it a lot harder to install yourself.

I did my suburbans large side windows and windshield by myself also one time... used a few hockey sticks to keep the windows in place on the side.

I just recently tried my windshield myself. I had done it about a year ago all by myself with no problem.-------- unfortunately this time it did not go so well.I got all but about 4 inches in and the chrome trim came out on that corner. I worked it off and on for about an hour or two before---Crack.Boy was I upset. It was a brand new windshield I had found for only $100. I wonder if the 67-70 chrome trim is easier as it actually locks all the way behind windshield. I have gaskets and trim for both so next time I'll try the older style.

Didn't realize there was a diferance in them.
Good job Fine...I'm too scared to do it myself. I'll do the butle ones, but not these older gasket ones.
