Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

Hey, I am looking for a truck currently, and I like the GMC better than the Chevy front end. I am in SC, PM me if you're selling it cheap (not to offend, I don't know what you're truck even looks like but my budget is < $2500).

I was actually dismissing trucks because I'd rather them be GMCs... it takes all kinds.

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

Seriously, I like the GMC frontend just as much as the 69-70 Chevy frontend, and way more than the 71-72 frontend. I still think the 67-68 Chevy frontend smokes them all.

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

anyone that says "if it were a chevy, id be all over it"... is one of these people "who just doesnt know".

im a chevy man by position and ownership... but if before i bought my 71 chevy, if i were to have come across a GMC, i would have bought it just the same. i for one, am one of those who sees an old GMC as a gem, not a turd.

anyone that says that one is better than the other, cannot possibly be a true GM fan.

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

Ya know, for me, the real problems with GMC's is that I don't own one!

A 67 shortie sure would be a great lookin truck, wouldn't it?

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

Those morons are just using the "popularity ploy" to try to screw you down on your price. They probably do know that the GMC's are just as valuable but are working the idea that maybe you don't. They probably didn't get passed the tire kicker stage because they knew they couldn't rape you on the asking price. I'd even go as far to say that they probably figured they had the truck resold already and just tryin any excuse to make you feel your truck is worth less than you are askin!
Well thats my opinion any way, but I have zero experience sellin GMC's. I would never dream of sellin part of my family! Chevys are cool, GMC's are a passion.

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

I think I'm in the minority in this thread, but I really don't care for the GMC grille. Until after 1988 anyway. I've got 2 94-98 GMC grilles hangin in the shop waitin to be swapped onto my 93 Chevy!!! LOL.

I guess my biggest complaint against GMC would be that it splits up the GM trucks statistics so that "other" company can claim they've had the best selling light truck for the last yada yada yada....
That statement could also be reversed I suppose. Hahaha

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

I won't say what MY opinion is on the looks of the GMC grill. I will say that the first thing I did when I got my GMC truck was to remove the grill and trade it for a transmission. Second thing I did was buy a 68 Chevy grill

I have to say I like the GMC look better. And I thought they didn't merge the GMC/Chevy production lines till post-68. Correct or not?

Well it is too late now, I think I shook all that stuff off. I don't have a problem with the GMC look at all, it's just not for me. BTW, I never said "ugly", you did.

Special-K, the middle picture you posted iof the red 68 is my all time favorite pic of a 67-72. I found it when I first bought my truck and it is what I want my truck to look like when restored. Anyone have more pics of that truck?

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

I always wanted a GMC finally got one. By the way does anybody know the original owner of this truck. It's out of Boise ID. I got it off ebay and want some history. The owner consigned it and the guy I brought it off ebay wont return any emails.

Of course you are right, Dirtball, that was an assumtion on my part since removing and replacing the grill was the first thing you did when you got your GMC. I don't get swappin them when Chevy's are available if ya search, but if we all thot the same there would be nuthin to talk about.!

Re: whats the problem with GMCs???

I owned a 71 GMC for a couple years. I bought it for $500 threw a battery in it and drove it home! I used the bedsides off of it for my K10 (as they weren't available reproduction at the time) I slapped another bed (which I had purchased for the wheeltubs) back on it. I also robbed the driver side inner fender off of it for the K10. I drove this truck for close to 3 yrs 50 miles a day and then I sold it for $800. You know the whole time I was driving it I couldn't see the grill from behind the steering wheel! If I can get my wife to help me with the scanner I'll post some pics of it later. When I was shopping for a 2wd I also looked at GMCs, but if I had purchased one the grill would have been the first thing to go. Nothing personal, I just prefer the Bowtie to the GMC. Hell, some people don't like beer and pizza (what's their problem)!

Well it just happened that the GMC came along at the right price of $200 less engine/trans. I wasn't intentionally going out looking for a GMC to butcher or anything. But on the bright side, it did give us somethin to talk about.

These Chevy trucks outsold all other brands big time. They also help the long term statistics about the longest running trucks in the world.
