Wheel Sizes

Okay.....I have bitten the bullet and I am taking a cutting wheel to my truck. I am going to cut the rear wells out of it and the bed up to the frame. This allows about 6 more inces of tire clearance without any other mods.

Do you guys know what the largest wheel and tire combo is when this is done? I have heard 12 in rim with 7 in backspacing. Not sure on a tire size. I ask because I only want to buy the rear set of wheels once....lol

Re: Wheel Sizes

I have 12" rims with 7" back space 14.5x29 tire lot's of room like another 6" inside, and about even on the outside, I think any wider and they stick out too much for my liking. I'm going to a narrower rear and a 31x16.5 tire and going to tuck them in the fender well and all I have is mini tubs to my frame with lot's of room. Here's a couple of pics, only ones I have on this computer.

Re: Wheel Sizes

That's exactly what I needed to know...Thanks...

Is the rear spacing 7 inches even or 7.5?

So you think there is enough room for say....a 14.5W Slick?

Re: Wheel Sizes

Outlaw why do you want such a huge tire? The biggest tire I have run is a 33 x 10.5w and they work well spraying 250 to 300 right out of the hole! I only have a 10 inch wheel but I wish I had a twelve!

Re: Wheel Sizes

I'm trying a 30x13.50 ET street this weekend on a local farm road track.. I'll let you know how it works. This will be NA with the 3,200 verter. I should have a 4,400 verter in the next couple weeks as well as my N20 finished. I'll let you know what my G-tech Pro RR tells me I cut. It was dead on with the 60' and .1 slow / 1mph slow compared to the track timers on 11 passes.

Re: Wheel Sizes

Cool....I can get that size on the truck now as is without any mods. Should also be able to stuff a 10.5w in it.

Re: Wheel Sizes

Hey Outlaw, I ran a 14.5 wide on a 10" rim with stock wheel wells in the back, just more info for you, I do belive they are 5" back space, I still have the rims if you need to know the backspace for sure. Too bad you didn't live up here I have 14.5x28's and 29's you could try before you buy. I also run a big tire because our track doesn't have concrete either and no prep on street legal night. Like I said before I'm going to a 16.5x31 with my narrowed rear end, of course the taller you go the narrower you can go and not loose any foot print, but with me I want my truck to have a certain look to it also and don't want to run a 33" tall tire. I'd rather be slower and have the look I want, of course to a certain extent.

Sweet....I knew it could be dont (Ijust didn't want to buy all that stuff and it not work)

Yes...please let me know the backspace of the 10" rim because if it's the same as what I have now....I will know for sure how wide the stock wells will really go before being hacked...if I could fit a 29 14.5 on it right now (non w tire) then ohhhh that would be grand!!! I don't suppose you have any pics with that setup on it do you?

By the looks of it...I'm pretty sure my wheel and the wheel in the pic have the same backspace.

Dang you run some meats.
After I put my new motor in the 26x10 Hoosiers don't hook any more. I have the weld drag stars. They are a 6' back space.
Should What tire size you recommend?

Re: Wheel Sizes

I would try a 28x10.5 The height will actually give you more contact patch and kill a little gear.
