Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

There is a new class that is coming to the monthy event I run . My Chevy Luv Fits this class that seems geared for mustangs . Let me know what you think . I'm thinking I can compete . I'll give as much detail as I can .

Evil street :
1. Small block 410ci BB 470 limit
2. conventional head only - Commonly avalible heads , no 18degree , splyed valve , etc.
3. SIngle power adder 2-soliniods (no beer can solinoids) 82 nitrous jet /76 mm turbo( no intercooleror methinjection )
4.Small block 3200 #, BB 3500#
5. 325/50/15 max or 30x12.50 et street style tire max
6. Stock suspension ( after market parts o.k. in stock location, front sub frames and K members ok if bolted to stock location )
7. Exhaust must be within 12" of rear axle with 3.5 " max
8. Full interior , stock floor pan , no exceptions ( trunk can be cut for fuel cell, but no complete trunk floor replacement ) This is a Mustang thing .
9. No lexan , no wheelie bars , no forward facing scoops , no stickered upo cars .
10. No digital MSD boxes , no electronic boost contrllers , no progressive nitrous timers .
11. single nitous bottle , no pusher systems .
12. Only fiberglass allowed is hood
13. all glass windows must be functional , except lexan rear window for bars on trucks .
14. No tow vehicles , Period . Must be driven to staging lane , scales after pass , and back to the pits or disqualified .
15. gasoline only / pump style gas .
16. You win 1 race add 50#s, win a second add 100#s, you win 3 in a row you sit 1 out .

My little truck is very close to this . My new big small block is almost done , i would have to add weight (need it in the back anyway) , and I have a glide with a trans brake I can put behind the big motor .

Anyway just looking for thoughts . I don't dislike bracket or index racing ( i've done a ton of it ) , I would just rather run heads up if you know what I mean . Anyway , whatcha think ?

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

Just wondering here.. This would be what I would be worried about with my set up.

Not that you are running it but a LS1 head would not fit this. 2. conventional head only - Commonly avalible heads , no 18degree , splyed valve , etc.
LS1's are 18* heads but are a production pice and available all over.

The second thing I would do it use a dry shot N20 system. I can make up for the Fuel system with tuning on the injectors. This would allow me to run a 2 stage set up.

To me it sounds fun..

I think they will supply the jets and they will be checked . It sounds like 1 plate , all the nitrous you can get through an 82 jet .

I'm gonna try it out this month , I may not be the fastest , but i can get it down the track .

The guy heading this up has a turbo Mustang in the 6.80's , I think it will be a 6.40 class . They are already talking about all drag radials now .

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

Sounds like fun, but I see the times being low 8's for the better funded rides. All of these classes start out being a way to keep the playing field even and allowing the average Joe to compete.
Look at the other classes that started out...real street, true street...etc.
In a matter of months they went from 9's to the 7's

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

My point was you get 2 noids. It doesn't say one fuel, one N20. So if you used 2 N20 noids stuffed with 82 jets and compensated for that with upping fuel injector flow, you could stuff a ton of N20 through it. But, your not EFI if I am correct.

I was more thinking out loud if I were running something like this.

Looks like these guys are gonna force me to run a drag radial . Does anyone have opinions on drag radials .

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

I have more motor right now than I have chassis . Just looking for the closest thing to a slick I can get . They just posted the rules and it looks like i'm out . the rules are no lexan . I have already appealed this and now i'll feel like a whiner if I keep appealing .

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

There gonna let me run lexan for a rear window , so i'm back in . I heard the Hoosier drag radials are super light and have a really soft compound . So soft that even though they are DOT approve that Hoosier list them for race applications only . I am removing the sway bar and trying to cross reference a set of drag shocks now . I have been needing to do this for a while . I ran the guy making the rules sunday night heads up and got him by 2 or 3 lengths .

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

Well , i worked my tail off getting the truck to fit . I had the field covered by three tenths and was the #1 qualifier . 2nd round it pulled a huge wheelie and bent both rear leaf springs tore one axle pad off and rolled the other one . I pulled up to the line in eliminations hoping for a red in the next lane and just drove down through . Hoosiers worked great though .

A video by any chance?
Sounds like the work was well worth it.
Was it a blast to run heads up?
When do you run again?

By the way, that lexan in your rear window looks really clear.
So what's the plan now to keep it hooking but not tearing it up?

Re: Maybe a more stock class, whatca think?

I did buy the video , so i'll see what i can come up with there .

I would rather run heads up , but that's just me , nothing against bracket or index racing .

They don't run in june ( Monster truck show paid like 3 times the track fee to buy out the spot for that month ) but we do it again until july .

In the picture there is no back window , I was just short of getting it finished and they let me run anyway .

djracer, it crushed both rear leaf spring and rolled the backs of the perches shortly after that picture . I'm gonna try some caltracs type bars and new leafs springs .
