Post Is this is a good deal?

I am looking at purchasing an 83 GMC 1/2 ton short stepside 4x4. Here are the specs:
5.0L (is this a 305 or 307?)
PW/PL/PB
AC(Not sure if working or not)
Auto
Woodbed
after market cassette player
137,000 miles
It is in awesome shape, looks like it has been redone, few stone chips and a couple scratches from driven it, but I couldn't find any dents or bondo when I looked it over last night. It appears to be in stock condition except it has aftermarket A/R wheels. Its at the local car dealer, I haven't listened to it run or driven it yet, I will tonight after work, they are asking 6995 for it, is this too much? Seems a little high to me, but maybe I am wrong, what are your guy's opinions? Thanks in advance.

Ean

I personally wouldn't pay that much for an '83, you could get an '87 with and fuel injected 350 for that much.

Check the cab corners, rocker panels, fender bottoms, core support bottoms, batter tray, and pull up the carpet and check the kick panels and floorboard for rust.

for a little more I would sell you my completely rebuild 84,new engine ,trans,
paint etc.(naw) the truck is probably
worth about 2995 to 4995, depending on
conditon. buy a good 87 for that money.
