I am truly sorry this is happening to you. You are being too nice in just giving up the Blazer. He can drive a work truck - he made the choice to say he wanted a divorce.

WOW...this is mind boggling. I have read a lot of these but this one really, really made my jaw drop. I can't believe that this is happening to you. After all of the work you have put in to the Blaz this sucks.

(& I CAN'T STAND LAWERS) EVERY TRUCK GUY I KNOW WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THEY'RE WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND TO TAKE AN INTEREST IN THEY'RE HOBBY LIKE YOU HAVE. He is the one who wants the divorce...I definately DO NOT. I can't even believe this is happening. He offered for me to keep the blazer, but I feel like the memories of him in that blazer would be too much for me. Someday there will be another one in my future...blazer that is

Right now I am just focusing on my 2 kids, and trying to not cry every minute.

I will be okay in time...
for those of you that have been here...thanks for the advice. It is early in this process, but I don't feel like I want to ruin him---I just want half- just like him, and to move on and find a new life. I am scared, but I am also VERY strong. Thanks to all!

From reading your posts over the past year or so, we can tell you're a strong person. I couldn't imagine the stress this is causing on you and your family, but as others have said, keep your chin up. It's his loss ( and a BIG one at that) not yours. You seem like the kind of lady every guy wants by his side. I have one of my own that loves working on the trucks and takes great interest in anything auto related. I'm sure you will come thru this even stronger and we wish you all the best. You know you always have a ton of shoulders to cry on here and we'll all be here for you.

Been there, felt that... miserable time of life, it will PASS (even though at times it will feel that it won't). As for the truck, just hang in there... there are plenty of great project vehicles out there and you will one day have another.

As for the mess...well if you don't HAVE to retain an attorney, don't. Yet do not sign a single thing without some sound legal advice. It is HELL, it is UGLY and it HURTS, but you CAN get through it and your kids NEED YOU TO.

Also, don't be afraid to get help... I needed plenty when I faced similar trials and tribulations.

Sorry to hear that. I was married almost 7 years when my 1st wife asked for a divorce. I didn't want it at first but then the more I thought about it, it was mutual, not the same situation as yours but it's tough starting over. I remarried a few years later and am happier than I ever was. Good luck to you.

I know you dont know me and we have never met but i have been where you are now and it will get better.It will hurt and seem like it will never,but it takes awhile.I do think you should at least get half of everything and that includes the blazer,after all you have time invested as well.I dont know the situation but could you see someone else riding in the truck with him?I am sure he would feel the same,therefore if you sold the blazer that would be a good start on another one that would be just yours.If there is anything that i can help with just let me know.Sorry for what you are and will be going through.

That is a bad situation all around. It was obvious from your posts that you had a passion for the Blazer. Bottom line though is that it is only a truck, and you can always get another one sometime. It is really not good to get too attached to a vehicle or any other inanimate object.

I feel your pain. I too am going thru the same mess and the best thing is to just keep busy. I believe things happen for a reason. I agree that you shouldn't take him to the cleaners. That just makes things worse. Sounds like you have the right attitude. If you need to get away, bring the kiddies down and my boy and I will take you guys to the beach or something. In the Blaz of course. Chin up!!! That darn saying "what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger" keeps running thru my head, lol

There was a movie about three guys in the same boat, Randy Quaid was one of them (can't remember the name of the movie) but the funny part at one point was when he went on a MISSION of DESTRUCTION on the porch that he'd built at the house for he and his former wife.

Can honestly say that it looked really great watching him "act out" the venting of that frustration. Maybe you can think of yourself like that girl in the recent Toyota commercial who tosses her man's truck off a cliff. In the end no one or nothing is hurt, but it is fun to imagine!
