Eckler's carrys reproductions with the spring mount, but I don't know if it's exactly the same as a 66 item:

oem4me The 62 interior has a white steering wheel is it painted white over a black base? The steering column and lower dash section below the gauge cluster as well as the Gauge surround are they painted white as well? The Glovebox, does it have the black in the center and the white as the instrument panel section?

Yep, white over black wheel. White column and surround. Glove box is fawn. It appears like the one in the Custom Comfort option illustration above, only no red. Oddly, other options include side trim, soft ray glass, and a radio, but it's NOT a custom cab. It's got painted bumpers, plain rubber window gaskets, and had stock black wheels and painted caps before I bastardized it.
I can't recall seeing many non Custom Cab trucks with side trim before. I dunno ...maybe I just forgot.

found this in one of my threads:
I ran the vin, and it comes back as :63 3/4 ton 4wd cab chassis, from the st louis plant.

I will look at the data plate next time I am out there and see if there is a paint code....

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

On your 62,
black primered hood, black underneath?
Black primered fenders
Black primered box?
Doors?
Red Oxide primered cab?

Sorry for so many questions but this is a rare opportunity to find out what types of preparation and finishes were used.

I noticed in a few factory photo's the doors rear view mirror hanging like a pendulum instead of upright. Also black mirror head with body color arm like on your truck.

I don't mind the questions at all. Ask away.
Black sealer/primer on hood, fenders, and box. Red oxide on cab and doors. Underside of hood is low gloss black.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

heres another little detail thing i got together. scanned a decent aluminum gvw tag off the leftside kick panel and touched it up. then took it to a screenprinter who printed 6 up on sheet aluminum in a medium blue/grey color. i cut them out, stamped the right numbers in and drilled the rivet holes. had a pretty nice new looking tag.

not sure what years had this but i'll offer the artwork for any guys anal enough to do the same. clem@hogeye.com

That looks good! I used a slightly different process back when I made one for a '65 I restored.

Is there anything you can't do. My 63 plate got distorted when they blasted the cab.

Do you think the black finish under the hood could be the same as on top of the hood? In other words, they simply primed the whole thing but painted the top?

Two Tone Paint on 60-61 GMC How does the two tone paint work on the firewall to the front of the cab. In other words, is the bottom color continued to the firewall up to the cowl and the white painted on the bolt on parts, fender cowls, vent cover(part that covers the vent and has the wiper drivers). I'm not sure I would be correct and I haven't seen the firewall's of factory two tone GMC's

I found this old truck today, I beleive it to be an original one owner truck... I thought the two tone on the door panels and dash might be helpful to someone. notice the chevrolet in script on the glovebox door

Nice find, hard to believe that all of the knobs and the script are still in there! I am not 100% positive but I think that the script was only in 60..

Bottom pic is a slightly better preserved version of what you saw. I nabbed this photo from another good reference thread. See post #12 from Jonzcustomshop for a KILLER '60. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=439322

This is interesting to me: Deluxe cab treatment, with arm rests, chrome knobs, and colored inserts on the door panels... but a standard steering wheel.

Did they have the Deluxe steering wheel in '60? ('60, as evidenced by the script on the dash)

(well darn... I don't know how to quote pics from someone else's post. This is in reference to the junkyard truck back on the 3rd page, post 55.)

Not sure about all, but here is the firewall on my factory two tone '60 GMC. It follows the middle color (white).

In my literature they define the color as Charcoal Black on the Dispatch Box. Is the color the same all over the dash and door inserts or is it two tone?
