Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Using flanged bearings is a great idea, you can kind of replicate the wildwood mounting plate with a bearing on each side and a transverse shaft. It's not hard to find steel and stainless steel keyed shaft online, keyed collars are available too.

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Got the doors hung and aligned and now working on the latches from AutoJunk... with no directions at all. Well maybe Ill make a video on how to install them into a TF truck - I guess AutoLoc doesn't believe in support for these trucks.

Also -------waiting --------- on machine shop that said it would ONLY take an hour to rebuild my brake pedal idea the RIGHT WAY.... but that was 3 weeks ago!!!!

HATE TO WAIT!!!!! ----

But I have my day job to keep me busy, what with 2 hurricanes, high rise fire in Hawaii and Northern CAL totally in flames! --- guess Ill be busy for a bit.

Wow, she's looking REAL good! I seriously considered those rims for mine and now I am considering them again! What sizes/widths are you using?

Thanks! - good to see ya here. Got your battery cover being built into my rear box area as we speak! All the metal is being fabricated back there.

Thanks Dan - The fronts are 18"x7 with a 4.5" offset - The 8" wide would probably fit with a different backspace.
The rears are 20"x 16" wide with a 5.5" backspace- theres alot more room in the rear to go deeper towards the frame. - this was the max width they build.

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Got my door latches installed today along with the brackets made for the popper solenoid and the locking mechanism. They are all mounted together on a plate together - that mounts into the space right behind the cab door jamb.

Fits perfect!

Just needs a little bondo filler, a little touch-up painting and it will be good to go!

And that is why with so many extra little things a project takes so long to complete, well worth the extra things, each step makes the truck more special.

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Thanks everybody for checking it out... It runs well just needs that final tune on the chassis dyno once I have it all street worthy. It drives surprizingly well mannered with the auto trans. The shifting while stopped is smooth between gears going from Park and Reverse and Forward, no jerks or anything. It shifts very deliberate between forward gears but not neck jerking for a full race shift kit .... that may change a bit when Im shifting with it WOT! The throttle is a little light right now, so a little GOES A LOT very quickly... need tighter or heavier springs maybe on it. The tires spin with little effort, maybe just cause they are new..... I don't think the 900+ HP has anything to do with that ------ lol

Speaking of HP- The supercharger is pretty quiet (right now) but maybe that's just because the open headers are SO LOUD!!!!---- right now.... Next is the 3" exhaust system getting put together with some muffs and the electric cutouts out the sides of the front fenders.... just for fun.

I love this shot:

The brake pedal problem is still a problem that i just dont trust fully. I had a machine shop key the lever end and the pedal end is only set screwed, but I feel it moving, so I just reused it to make the drive down the driveway. Im gonna remove all that and make a pedal welded shaft with a keyway for the lever to the booster. Thats the next mechanical project to get done.

The PS and the hydroboost work great otherwise, love the easy steering and the strong pedal feel to the brakes. It STOPS very well with these Wilwoods.

Nice!! You do realize you may need softer rubber to get the power down. Just remember 900hp or not, my mazda can do a burnout lol.
