Re: tuba trucks

Good to see that the truck has come to the right place Pete, Clem.

Of course we will be watching this build unfold as well.

I wish that would get it done. More like replace cab and doors, buy new core support and complete front clip, overhaul motor and trans… and thats just the beginning. Tons to do on this one. Need your help, come on out...

Thanks mike… heading out to Scotty's shop today and will let him know about Bertha. Call later…

So… yesterday we rolled Cottons 63 out for a photo update. We installed bed boards, rear fenders, step boards, back bumper and Pete dialed in the drivetrain. Now its off to EQ muffler for the exhaust… getting close on this one.

Re: tuba trucks

Michael from the UK wanted the patina truck after he saw it at the cruise-in last year. since then a lot of mechanical upgrades were made and the interior has been redone. which brings us to the paint job. the truck had all the usual rust spots and a bunch of the typical dents and scratches. all fixed... and once the body was solid and straight we agreed on a faux-tina paint job. the work is about half done, starting with a thick coat of grey primer that was sanded down then another coat of black primer and finally a coat of red oxide. after a scuffing, 2 coats of baby blue were done with a flattening agent added. then the fun begins... pics...

Re: tuba trucks

the finished result is still a bunch of work before it is realized. sanding and airbrushing to get a very weathered look to match the white top that i hope to leave alone. we'll see... when completely satisfied a bunch of matte clear will seal the deal. just not yet...

thanks buddy, not my style either but Cotton loves it. he came by friday to take a test drive and didn't bring her back till sunday. while away the truck got a big dose of cottonization. he installed venitian blinds, bed side boards with mobile gas logos, and a arm rest console thing... i fear this is just the beginning... pics

Re: tuba trucks

thanks guys... i love retirement, except for that no check on Friday part, I've never been happier.

We've been working on a buddy's resto BBW fully loaded 66 and though the chassis is complete, we are doing the slow battle of body work. While it seems slow to most it is very labor intensive to us. Many hours of metal work and priming and sanding is involved as I know you know...

this months update is just that... many hours of body work.

Re: tuba trucks

another big part of surviving in the restoration business is doing parts for those guys who want to build it but don't want to do the dirty work. We have done fenders, doors , beds and cabs for quite a while now and the best part is knowing that there is a great truck on the other side of our efforts with a good foundation.

here is a cab that got all the metal work done, all the body work done and a hefty coat of bedliner underneath and on top of the floors.
