Pics of a 71 I just got

I really wasn't looking for a longbed, but for $800, how can you turn it down? It has 66,000 miles, complete less engine. everything else is there. There's some minor rust on the floorboards, no rust-through. The interior is in remarkable shape for its age. It has a seat cover, but the original seat is warn, but not torn. It has a factory tilt. The body is super straight, and the tailgate is straight as an arrow.
Im really not digging the dark green dash pad, armrest's, and seat, so Im thinking of using a black dashpad, white door panels with the upper woodgrain (if there available), and a white and black houndstooth seat cover, too fit my taste.
It seems a shame to cut the truck up, but Im dead set on a shortbed, and with as straight as this truck is, it removes all the headaches of extra body work, other than the bed shortening. Check out the unusual rear bumper.
I am curious if those mirrors are factory???.........hate em
I think I got real lucky with the deal?

Re: Pics of a 71 I just got

It likely left the dealership with that rear bumper, not a factory rear bumper, but a dealer installed rear bumper.

That is a heck of an $800 truck, you did good!

Re: Pics of a 71 I just got

Looks like you bought a tailgate and got a clean truck in the deal! Congrats. I wouldn't feel bad about cutting that truck down for a second, it will be getting more use as a cut-down swb than a broke-down lwb.

Great deal! Sad thing is it is worth a lot more in parts than together....but running and cut down as a swb that's a 6-8K truck....before paint...
