Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replaced the cab mounts on my '67 GMC all by my lonesome. The front bolts weren't tack welded fortunately - using a wrench inside a pipe for the head and a torque wrench on the nut I was able to torque 'em down to spec!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I finished my under hood wiring cleanup project. It included running the wires properly through new firewall and radiator cable channels. Also any and all erroneous wire performing no function that was installed by the PO was removed. All wires exposed were wrapped in black wire tape. I also reattached the cowl after installing a more period correct antenna, trash guards and a new hood to cowl seal. On the engine I replaced the painted water neck with a nice polished aluminum version to tie into my aluminum covers and cleaner. During the wiring project I broke a front side marker lens so I replaced them all new on all four corners.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Good weekend. Got the shifter lined up so P means park and D means go. Lubed the column so the shifter works again. Got the glovebox door back on. Installed return/return fuel line so it doesn't slosh out every time i go around a corner. Cleaned it up a bit. Ordered a overdrive shift indicator along with the anti-rattle bushing. Was able to drive it for a bit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Went for a 1.5 hour drive with my wife in the mountains. First long drive after having the sm465 rebuilt, shifts great. It sure is nice not having to short shift into 4th gear at 20mph because 3rd gear sounded like a air raid siren!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

i'm definitely sick. I have been a stupid wreck since I dropped RAT off with Painter Lee on Wed.

Really lame of me. But, I guess after rolling around under, over, and in her for four years, I gotta have some pain in letting her out of my sight.
Let alone, the drag of being unable to drive her now that (most of) the bugs have been squashed.

Lee's a great guy and excellent body/paint artist. I promised him I wouldn't bother him so he didn't have to deal with me hanging out interrupting
him all the time. And, I won't...I just have to keep telling myself, "Remember your promise, promise, promise....".

Today, I was shaking enough () that I figured I better get a real life. So, I practiced some scales.

I got sick of that and figured that since I'd been asked a bunch of times about RAT's stance (I appreciate the questions), I'd make a little slide show
with captions to point out what RAT is running next to the ground.

Here it is:

Be aware that Bilstein has HD #'s and those are the ones you'll be wanting .

The Sock Warehouse is so far , the best place to get them price wise , always in stock too .

Plus , they're connected to an outfit that sells brake shoes super cheaply , no core charge , riveted typ if you want .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

WOW! Looks like rincones and 67cheby did some positive work on their beds/wells. I went the other way, didn't want to replace the bed floor and wheel wells so I figured it would be much more fun to do a spray on bedliner instead. Don't want to fix the dents? Cover them up!

Good tip. Checked w Shockwarehouse.com and those are HD #'s...but they are $6/shock cheaper. O'Rielly will price match. Thats more beer for me. See why this is a great forum. Thanks Nate.
