Re: 71 Cheyenne Build

Tailgate Woodgrain and letters, The woodgrain decal was faded and cracked, I wanted to replace it. I took the tailgate band off and found that the letters were riveted onto the tailgate band. I looked into new tailgate bands and they are priced $200-$300. I bought the replacement decal for $15, I drilled the rivets out removed the letters, removed the old decal with the aid of a heat gun, cleaned the band installed the new decal and JB Welded the letters back on. $20 bucks and a Sunday morning and it looks good! Hope the letters stay in place!

Spent a little time On "Spare Change" this weekend, I worked on some minor rust on the doors and repainted those areas.

Cool Re: 71 Cheyenne Build

Trailer Hitch is built and ready to install, I'll need to do some fab work on the sport bumper license plate bracket, as the receiver part of the hitch will be hidden behind the plate.

Red face Re: 71 Cheyenne Build

Started working on the headliner the old headliner was in great shape, the glue had let loose and the chrome trim was shot. First attempt to glue the headliner up was unsuccessful, hope I have better luck on the second try!

Nice job on the tailgate applique! What supplier did you get the 3M woodgrain roll from?

Re: 71 Cheyenne Build

Wow, what a bargain. Did you float it with a soap/water combo then press out the air pockets?

Decal had its own adhesive (peel and stick) went on very nice with almost zero air bubbles the couple that I had worked out with plastic putty knife.

Headliner Installed! I used 3M Velcro to hold in place, I also propped it up with a brace while the adhesive dried.
