88 GMC suburban oil pan ?

Does anyone know if I can drop the oil pan in my 88 GMC suburban, 1/2 ton, 4X4, 350 auto, with the engine in? I need to replace the pan and would like to do it without pulling the engine. It looks like there is plenty of clearance. What do I do where it meets up to the timing chain cover? Anything special that needs to be done? Thanks.

First you drain the oil and second you remove the filter and third you remove the bolts. It is as easy as it looks.

Yep. That should have the one piece oil pan gasket. Makes reassembly a breeze, especially in a 4wd. Why do you have to replace the oil pan?

oil pan

totally shreddit the oil plug and cannot get an oversized one to seal...in fact the little du-hicky on the inside of the pan where the threads are, broke away from the spotwelds so there isnt anything to rethread into. Not a big deal, i have an extra pan, but just didnt know if it would clear the front Xmember. Thanks for the help
