ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
Finally having the time and $ I received a crate ZZ454 last week. I also picked up a GM serpentine belt set up. All is well so far, however GM sent me a cracked/ broken alternator they will exchange it though I will post pics this next week or so of the install.

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
now, all you have to do is pick up some valve covers that say 572, and keep your mouth shut

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
Hi all thanks for the nice comments,
It turns out that the Comp Cams rocker arms that I am putting on the motor do not fit the valve covers the poly locks are a bit to high/ tall. Any thoughts or suggestions as to who makes a nice valve cover spacer? Thanks, -Fred |

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
I've seen lots of those spacers. I'm not sure who makes them. I have comp pro magnum 1.75 rockers on my camaro and with a little clearancing they fit fine.

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
To answer the question I bought the engine from Scoggin Dickey chevrolet, cost was $6000.00, kinda sucked because the prices went up about $300.00 on the first of the year, but oh well nothing I could do about that. Isn't that the reason for home equity lines

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
So the motors in and running, it seems to like 31 on the timing, needs a bit of massaging on the passenger side manifold and it sounds healthier then I could have ever imagined. Now just a bit of A/C work, the new eaton posi rear and a few little things here and there and it'll be ready for the road, and so I think. ...

Re: ZZ454 in my '72 - pics
Gotta love the 454. My dad still has his original 454 in his '78 GMC Camper Special 250K plus miles on it.
