Re: A beauty and a beast
My current truck is a '65, I've had five 60-66 Chevy trucks since high school in the late 60's. They seem to find me for some reason. My dad was a Chrysler guy, but he loved these GM trucks, and it sort of stuck with me.
But in my opinion, the '67 is the best looking pickup ever made. One of these days.... Would love to have an original condition, 250 6, automatic trans, longbed fleetside 1/2 ton. Some nice rust free Arizona one.

I love my 250 straight 6 but I wish it was a long wheel base.

Re: A beauty and a beast
That's a nice change of pace on what we usually hear on the board. I personally prefer long boxes. But over the years spent here on the board I have developed a liking for the short boxes too.

Engines confuse psychoanalysts. It sure got up and went! Sounded like a six cyl/3spd. (I see the truck shown is automatic)

Re: A beauty and a beast
I really like my '69, but truly love the 67-68. I had my dream truck years ago ('67 GMC 3/4 with the original 327 still installed- rust free Texas truck) and didn't know what I had. I ended up selling it and have regretted it ever since.
There was just something about that '67, it wasn't pretty to look at, had been repainted a couple of times, and was rough around the edges, but drove it cross country twice while towing a car behind it, max speed was around 65mph due to the low gearing, but that truck was dependable and I could throw anything at it and it would do its job. My '69 is someone else's project that looks good, but they did some shoddy prep work and body work at the rockers and cab corners, but really good at other things as well. With the nicely built 396 in it, it is a fun truck to drive, but not really useful as I am too concerned about it getting damaged as I have so much $ into it. And I'm not even done fixing it.... Someday, I hope to find a clean, basic 67 GMC small window 3/4. But for now I will enjoy the '69 until I put it up for sale.

Re: A beauty and a beast
I love these old ads. They always make me imagine my local dealership lined with these trucks back in the day and how awesome it would be to go pick one out brand new. Then again, it also makes me wonder if I'd be as lackluster about these trucks as I am about the current trucks in the lot if I really were buying a truck back then. Considering there were millions of these trucks made and many of them have been turned to scrap by now, I'm guessing I would have just seen them as another truck.

Re: A beauty and a beast
'67s were a big hit when they came out. They sold a whole lot of them to people who never had trucks before. Although there had been deluxe options offered for many years and from the mid-50s through the 60s they got more and more appearance, convenience, and comfort options, '67 brought on a whole new world with the Custom Sport Truck. The high level of interest in these trucks today is a thing that began the day these trucks were first shown to the public. I was a kid in the '60s and loved the GM Trucks. I loved all brands. Then came the '67s like a whole new thing. The Camaro had also come out and they both shared that rounded angled look that closed in on the grille in a boxy '60s world. They were so sleek yet no less a truck.

Re: A beauty and a beast
My dad was a car salesman back in the mid 60's to early 70's at a Chrysler Plymouth dealership. They were also a GMC truck dealer. I never gave the trucks a second glance back then.
My dads demo cars back in the day were, first gen Barracuda, first year Road Runner, first year second gen Cuda, cars along those lines. Trucks were not even in my head when as a kid I got to ride in some crazy Mopar Muscle Cars. Wish I was old enough to drive back then =) He later did work for a strictly GMC dealership and a new Jimmy was one of the trucks I learned to drive in. I was attracted to the 71/72 Chevy 4x4s so that was what drug me into this mess lol. And then I discovered the 67/68 .. Now my favorites
