good parts deal out of the blue

I had a pleasant surprise last friday. I was mowing the neighbors front lawn when a truck pulled into my driveway and the driver knocked on our door. My wife answered the door and the guy asked if we'd like to buy a chrome rear bumper for our '69 stepside. Our truck is visible to passerbys whenever the shop door is up. She brought him out to talk to me and he had sold his 72 stepper and had this really nice rear sport bumper left. The only part he had left over. Anyway it is pretty much like new and I said yes of course. The wife handed him $100. I had not made my mind up whether to buy a roll pan or bumper for it but I guess now I will have to run across a real nice chrome front bumper to match. Good deals don't often find me like that so I am tickled.

Man, I wish people stopped by offering parts, all they want to know is if I’ll sell any of them!

Always good to hear about Positive results.
There is a few of my Neighbor's that have
Old truck's that I have not met.
Maybe that would be a good approach
I hope you post Pics of your new score

That's pretty neat. He probably thought you were the neighbor.

As a matter of fact he did think I was the neighbor but my wife told him I cut the front and ditch banks for them. My neighbor had a stroke last year and cannot do anything anymore. His new lawn care guy does not finish cut it like the neighbor used to so I dress it up a bit. He took great pride in his place. Good people. I don’t mind it a bit.

Re: good parts deal out of the blue

For Getter-done. This appears to be an OE bumper. No flaking or chipping. A little surface rust on the back side as expected.

Thanks for the Pictures.
I have 5 neighbors that have 67-72 Trucks.
I hope to meet them in the near future.

Re: good parts deal out of the blue

I think this is the bumper that was listed on FB Marketplace for some time now. I had my eye on it, but just didn't need it right now. Glad it went to a good home.
