Re: Pics of hood mod

I agree with Cliff, better than shelf stuff. One change I'd make, cut openin's half way back and fit your grill piece on a angle to front. That would keep the rain out of the bay. A buddy did a Mustang like that and worked and looked factory. Still sucks air and gives the same effect. Love the look !!!!!!!!! And cheaper than a cowl hood LOL!!!!!

Re: Pics of hood mod

what year hood is the one you are workin on ? i know you said you cut parts out of a 72 hood and the way i understood it you was putting the hood scoops (whitch are going to be killer lookin when done ) on a 67-68 hood , the hood i see in the pics is not a 67-68 hood , its a 69 up hood or is it just my eyes (i still cant see well since i got sick )

Yeah THATS the '72 hood I cut it out on--My '68 hood is standing over by a wall. Sorry for any confusion there.

Re: Pics of hood mod

I agree. The BelAir look would be killer especially with the hood ornament.

TnBlazer--Raeford is 13 miles west of Fayetteville. I am stationed at Pope Air Force Base. I'm not sure about the Nats yet. Depends if I'm sent to Iraq or not.

Re: Pics of hood mod

No-I bought a '72 truck(whole) just for the 5 lug disc axles and 12 bolt rear, then grabbed a few pieces off it before i sent it off on a roll back. I took the hood off it so I could make my 442 scoops for the '68 I'm building. I made '05's showing at Charlotte. That was a big show. Hopefully if I'm not deployed, I'll make this one as well. You're pretty close to the base here. We'll have to meet up some time. Maybe you can help me find some parts.

Re: Pics of hood mod

This is going to be a slow process. I haven't even bought a welder yet-lol. I wish I could mass produce these. If I ever do, this board will be the first place I'd offer. I'll let ya'll know as soon as mine is finished. I may do a couple after this one is done. I'd hate to ruin SOMEONE else's hood--

Re: Pics of hood mod

Love the color choice, had a mini few years ago same color had 2.2 charger hood scoop grafted on hood 78 transam air extractors on fenders chevette square tail lights out back original tail lights and gate smoothed to match the body lines 4/6 drop boyd fluted stars customized the factory grille mono paint job best of all did it myself, the feeling when someone asks who built it is priceless.... I figure you will experience that a bunch because your truck will draw a crowd whereever it goes as its gonna be sweet !!!! keep us posted Mike

Re: Pics of hood mod

Just my opinion, but I think it would look better if the middle ridge were removed. If you look at the 1:64 scale Jada trucks, they have a smooth hood, and I kinda like it. I was thinking about making one from a 67-68 hood and fitting it on my 71. I had also thought about ram air through the front of my original hood. I've seen a few models and concepts from the 60's that did it.
