Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I saw this on Stacy David's 67 Chevy Pickup Shortbed Conversion video on YouTube.
I just want to know the name of the manufacture to see if it is affordable.

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I like the way it keeps the bed controlled, no swinging. Every other way I have done this the bed is swinging and hard to control when your doing this alone.

looks like you could modify a cherry picker to work in a similar way, but that one looks to work like one of those lift carts to keep things level.

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

Thats a cool design- A $100 harbor freight cherry picker and a boat winch would be a good start on fabbing one.

I bet this one Stacy is using is $2-3K.

The bad thing is that unless u have a huge building it would be in the way 99.9% of the time and not really useful for anything else

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

Not sure who makes that one but I found this one that's served me very well and is of very high quality. If you have an engine hoist, it works superbly and it's only $200 plus shipping.

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

For what the thing Stacy used in his show, You could probably do what I do to remove beds cabs and other thing as well. Buy a two post lift. Mine was like $1499 I went to the warehouse and got it so there was no shipping and it makes changing things like Suburban bodies a one person job. Frame changing had never been easier at my place in all the years I have been there. Also check into Champ they make a lot of that kind of stuff. I think they make something called a bedlifter. Jim

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I did mine with a couple of 2x4s screwed together under the bed lip. You can wrap a couple of old towels around it if you are worried about the paint. I used a front end loader on the farm to lift but there is no reason why an engine hoist couldnt be used either. Beds are not that heavy, just really awkward.

I made mine like this only out of scrap lumber.

I've also used a chain hoist (engine hoist) attached to a rafter.

If you have a party and envite 6-8 of your strongest friends it will probably still be cheaper than that. Even twice-once to take it off and another to put it back.

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

It looks like it's down to the H frame lifter in the bed or a bunch of friends.
Thanks guys for the suggestions, if I do find it I will post the price!

when I was home at lunch I didn't have time to post but I did have time to look at the catalog, Autobody Toolmart has one from Champ called the bed lifter similar to the one shown in the post[ not the one Stacey David has]

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I've lifted the bed on my previous Longhorn with the wood in it. I could pick up either end myself, just not control it. Seriously 3-4 people can lift it off without a problem. And you don't have to store people after you're done!

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I wrote Stacy David's show "Gear's" and asked them about the Bed Lift Tool. They responded today and said it was given to him years ago and there is no manufacturers name on it anywhere.

So 4 friends it is!

Thanks again guys!

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I have something to help me remove beds that is much cheaper than those. It is called Jason, and he is my brother! -lol

Seriously though, we have lifted beds off trucks for years. It is easier if a couple of more guys are around, but we've done numerous just by ourselves. You don't even have to grunt if you have four guys!

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

i've got an unfinished garage and I just use 4 ratchet straps and hook them to my joists then crank it up to remove the bed. Works every time, only takes 1 person and its one of those jobs you can do without setting your beer down.

Re: Does anyone know who makes this Bed Removal Tool

I think the idea of 2X4 H-frame with cherry picker or engine hoist would be just fine. I wouldn't spend big $$$$$ on a speciality hoist that might not be used that much. Just my $0.02.

X2. The two post lift is safe and easy and versatile.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this setup.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=219353

It's a pretty awesome little setup. Makes lifting both cabs and boxes a one man job. $50 worth of steel and a few hours work. Worth every penny.

Do you have a better pic of the cab lift portion. That is a pretty slick tool. It seems the home made stuff is usually the best, just not as perty.
